In the meantime, VALENTINE, H. BRIAN Senior Vice President just acquired 80K of shares at no cost and the same second flipped 32K of them for sweet $8M. All the while driving the company some $274M deep into red. Some people have really fantastic job where reward inversely proportional to performance.

Every time people discuss fundamentals here stock goes way up. Watch AMZN today it will be up 5-10$. Recent dip is a great entry point 8-)

That's because the last of brain cells have left the buildings on Wall St. Only algorithms remained.

Great article, Paulo. I wonder how many more tablets people need? Here is little study. Good representative population of middle class takes train to Toronto downtown every day. Almost everyone already has a tablet. iPads and classic Kindle mostly, some Nooks. Those who don't, likely don't need one.

In my personal experience in Canada, options are taxed as capital gains on proceeds (Sell Price - Strike Price) which results in very roughly 45 * 0.5 = 23% tax of proceeds, whereas RSUs taxed on Sell Price at full 45%.

Please do not insult Paulo. His articles are way better researched than almost anything I read on WSJ.

This is a little weird. Buying and selling from each other I understand. How do you cancel a trade? Trade is trade, it's in the broker's and exchange's books and at the end of the day and must be netted and settled. Saying that HFT trades do not settle is a major accusation. Assuming some transparency and oversight still exist, somebody must be holding the bag at the end of the day. A pretty big bag of bo-bo at that. They can bid price up or down, but money and shares still change hands. No?

Interesting twist with Kindle is that, unlike many other handheld devices, Amazon made it open. You can copy PDFs and MOBI files as you please. It will bite them back big time. Who's going to buy ebooks if you can just download PDF? Looks like Amazon is shooting itself in the foot with Kindle, even though the device itself is marvelous and well worth money paid.
