  • Apple: Important iPhone 5 Release Details We're Ignoring [View article]
    Rocco back on

tone seems to have mellowed a bit compared to last SA pieces and latest Street Apple tear downs

Your statements Re: not regretting having not purchased the stock even though it has been on a tear and it is bcus you exercise caution and have seen others experience "bloodbaths" is patently ridiculous on its face - who could not in fact say that Re: any stock that has exploded based on growth and execution that negate all your blah blah blah negative trolling Re: Apple last year or so.

You completely overstate and continue to grossly overstate the medium term risk. Stock is conservatively priced and has numerous catalysts set to drive value and price next 12 months.

You have been wrong and continue to be wrong for quite awhile now. Sad part is that 2 years from now with stock at $1200 you could write same piece with same rationalizations and probably still with same motivations to get hits for another negative Apple piece.

    Whatever dude

  • Samsung (SSNLF.PK), unsurprisingly, plans to appeal its harsh legal loss to Apple (AAPL). Apple's response to the jury's verdict: "We applaud the court for finding Samsung’s behavior willful and for sending a loud and clear message that stealing isn’t right." Samsung's response: "It is unfortunate that patent law can be manipulated to give one company a monopoly over rectangles with rounded corners, or technology that is being improved every day by Samsung and other companies." How will Google now be able to Screw Apple by offering a iPhone IOS copy OS (Android) for free ?? - now that they will have to either develop a new and original OS - or pay Apple royalties and license fees.

  • Tesla Gets A Big ETF Promotion [View article]
    Sharkdude- catch a clue

Ever seen Amazon PE or earnings projections ? - Been around almost 20 years and they are not anything close to being a start up.

Tsla is just getting established and has huge upfront capital investments, yet they are already making money after only one year and projecting 25% margins by end of year. They could easily grow revenue by well over 100% for next 5 years- Amazon will grow about 15% next 5 years at best.

The large car companies take 4-5 years to bring new car concept to market and lose money for years and years after roll out.

  • Apple: Future Storefront Volatility And Short Trade Trigger [View article]
You obviously know next to nothing Re" Retail Metrics and performance for overall market and Apples place in this market.

Apple is the gold standard of Retail - highest $ per sq ft. and Profit per sq ft. in the world. Tiffany's with only 11 stores is distant 2nd. Any other retailer in the world would kill to have Apples sales and profits even if the stay flat or slightly down per store as they open new stores, which is totally normal as stores open to meet geographic demand.

On top of this, they have highest product margins of any Tech company and it's not even close. This allows them to open these stores and utilize them to educate and service their core consumers and users. Meanwhile they already sell tons of products online and are growing this business at faster rate than their retail business.
So your comparisons of the 2 models assuming a zero sum game is just totally off base.

Get a clue and do some research before you publish next time

  • Tesla: Understanding Growth For Tomorrow, Today [View article]
Pick Up Truck at around $40K (very doable at scale as pick ups are highest margin vehicles due to less material and body engineering)
Would easily be 80K units in year 1 in USA. PIck Up market is huge here at over 1.8 MM Units fcst for this year. Ford and Chevy will sell almost a million between the 2 of them.

Most are used as work vehicles - Fuel and maintenance costs would be greatly reduced while a huge increase in carrying capacity (front engine compartment could be all storage for work tools etc) towing capacity, and torque vs competition would result. The problem of slipping in snow and ice would also be greatly reduced as weight would be distributed evenly vs ICE trucks.

In 5 years (2018) Tesla could easily be close to 750,000 vehicles globally with 4 models in place (S, X, pick up, and mid level sedan) and a new plant in Texas.

  • ChannelAdvisor Data For Amazon In June Is Out, Conclusion Remains The Same [View article]
Paulo- I like all of your in depth analysis on AMZN

However, a little bit of a cop out to blame Helicopter Ben for the seemingly irrational positive slope on AMZN - there are plenty of other stocks that have gone down in last 3 years whilst AMZN has gone pretty much straight up.

It is amazing that it has continued to do so - when you consider the following REv growth for the 6 quarters since Q1 2012 -
34%-29%-27%-22%-22% and then 20.5% for this qtr if you are correct at $15.47BB. So much for the bulls who argue "its all about growth" - and then on top of it - they have made -0- profit over these 6 quarters. Let's see ...... consistently slowing growth over a sustained period and zero profits = ????? (in this case an exploding price)

To me, this is much more about constant pump from analysts houses who keep issuing the paper for amazon

What will be really funny is when they guide 2014 to zero profit - and analysts will still recommend "Buy". What is really unhealthy about this is that it distorts competition in the market place - all their competitors are required by the market and their shareholders to make profitable decisions - Apple, Ebay, Goog, walmart, Target, best buy, barnes&noble, Rackspace, Msft in each of their respective areas- Amazon does not need to and keeps borrowing money and paying employees with stock. Competitors like Rax and BKS go out of business and consumers are left with less choices.

It ain't supposed to work that way !

  • Tesla Motors (TSLA -1.8%) CEO Elon Musk tips off that auto dealers in New York are "sneaking through" a bill to shut down the automaker's direct-to-consumer sales in the state. After winning a courtroom battle in the state earlier this year, it appeared Tesla would have a green light in the state before today's developments. [View news story]
Notice that all of the states trying to stop Tesla are Republican legislatures with big contributions by Oil and Car Dealers. NIce to see our democracy and capitalistic principles so blatantly for sale on the open market.

An EV finally becomes viable- and now they are trying to kill it in the cradle - makes you believe all those conspiracy stories about how Gas alternative vehicles could have been developed decades ago with some Govt. help in infrastructure, technology and R&D Credits, but instead we get our tax dollars invested to subsidize oil companies and bail out American car companies every 20-30 years.

What the hell has happened to our country that this just seems normal because we all understand that Car Dealers are big political contributors (as well as the big 3 Car companies and oil companies) - how disgusting and un-American.

Makes me want to buy a Tesla just to flip them all the bird.
Hopefully that will be the dynamic that takes hold for a lot of other people as well.

"Buy American - Buy Tesla" !!

  • Apple's Pricing Power? Questionable [View article]
Gutone has now replaced Rocco in writing Neg. Articles on Apple trolling for clicks.

I'll write a real response to your thesis when you show a short position in the stock - otherwise your pronouncements are just provocation to achieve replies by sounding the death knell of Apple over and over again with no action to back up your analysis. If the stock is set up so poorly, you should go all in and short it since it obviously has sooo many issues as you continue to write about each week.

  • Why Tesla Won't Be Able To Profitably Build A BMW 3-Series Competitor [View article]
You can never quote BMW models at base model - check out the way they charge for add ons that no other company does (A/C- Sound system- Leather or trim- power steering etc.) - a BMW 3 will cost you atleast $5K more than base model list price. They don't even have a "base model" available at any of the dealers.

For same price - Will you want an ugly prius looking i-3 that is slow , lacks range and is bare bones on digital connectivity and communication.

    - - - or a sexy, fast, longer range, technically advanced, digitally connected and enhanced Tesla G3 with free charges at a network of what will easily be over 300 supercharging stations that charge you up 5x as fast as competitors charging stops.

= stop less, charge faster and for free

Huge advantage for Tesla against ICE competitiors attempting to compete in EV- NO one who is high performer at ICE car companies wants to work on EV versions and no big deal if it fails as 98% of their focus and sales are on ICE cars. Tesla high performers get promoted or fired only for selling and growing sales of EV ONLY PERIOD.

  • After seeing Verizon report it sold just ~650K iPhone 5s in Q3 due to supply issues, Jefferies' Peter Misek thinks only 5M units may have been sold overall in the quarter - he previously believed sales of 8M-10M were possible. But Misek argues iPhone 4/4S sales will make up for any shortfall to his 26M-unit iPhone forecast. Meanwhile, Stifel notes the iPhone 5 is still back-ordered for 3 weeks at Verizon. Apple (AAPL -2.8%) is selling off along with many other tech large caps, and is down 13% from its Sep. 21 high. (earlier: I, II[View news story]
Dear Editor - Apples policy is sales are recorded only when shipped - they then announced on their site (and it is still on there) that they "sold" 5 MM in first weekend. I doubt vey much that they then "shipped" (sold) no phones for the next 5 days to end of quarter.

  • My China Syndrome With Apple [View article]
Drives me nuts that yourself and other analysts are already attempting to use the slowdown in FY Q4 on iPhones to say that spells trouble for the company or the stock - Yes, sales will slow before the HUGE ramp up to iPhone 5 just as with 4 to 4S. This is normal for all product cycle refreshes - cars, TV's Pc's etc. = So what ??

If you view the calendar year quarterly growth and trends in aggregate on iPhones instead of FY - they simply astound and will continue to do so. PERIOD

Also, they did nots sell many iPads in China because they only have the 2's available as they cannot make enough of the new ones to open China yet. Mac's will explode with the refresh in June and iPods are of little consequence either way.

Their only challenges on Iphone 5 and Ipads is if they will be able to make enough of them - not if they can sell them. What if they open China Telecom for Chinese New Year 2013 ? = Lookout

I really hope you come back and write about the "disappointing" phone sales for the October earnings report - those postponed purchases only push into FY Q1 and then yourself and others will write next January report how you are "shocked and astounded" by the increase in FY Q1 2013 with the new phone. = Whatever

Honestly, I think most of you simply write negative on Apple because you know it gets you more hits than anything else you write

  • Apple Struggling At $400: Great Low-Risk Short [View article]
Silliness and ignorance continues to abide with AAPL shorts and Bears- walk into an Apple store sometime and then realize they will build 10x what they have now and with their sales at RETAIL not Wholesale = minimum 35% greater margins than all their competitors - 5 stores ion China do $1BB IN Sales.

They literally cannot make enough product to meet demand

........ And the stock trades at same or somewhat below PE of

Can't believe anyone would or would recommend short AAPL
Not one sell rating by any analyst - well in less you count yourself as an analyst

  • Tesla Battery Swap Is A No-Go [View article]
I think the whole point being missed
is how easy and economical it will be to upgrade or replace your Tesla
engine (Battery) - as technology improves. 90 seconds and drive away with your new engine in place.

Biggest reason to throw away or trade in a ICE vehicle is the engine starts to fail and needs to be replaced - or needs boatloads of maintenance expenditures. Add on to this that brakes pads last well over 100K miles and you will save lots of money on electric vs gas- less maintenance and easy/economical upgrades on your engine (battery) which means you probably keep your car for 10-15 years instead of 5-8 which also means less pollution and waste from junked cars and car parts.

What a cherry pick by Larry -
Duh-you are growing mobile , but what is $ Profit & Margin% vs PC ?
How fast is PC search declining ?
How much will you lose on Motorola next 12 months ?
How much will you lose selling tablets and android OS at cost ?
What is risk of being investigated for privacy and anti trust issues here and in Europe ?

Given all the above- how smart is it to invest in space ships, google cars and google glasses
