  • Replace Your Paycheck With Aristocrats - Dividends Twice A Month [View article]
I thoroughly enjoyed your article - thank you. A nice way to start 2015! I wonder if adding a covered call option to this proposed portfolio would add enough additional income to make it worthwhile. You've included a number of alternative equities - so if your cover call transacted the proceeds could be deployed towards purchasing the "runner up"? This kind of monthly paycheck coupled with a social security payment could boost a married couple's annual income into the high 80's.

Watch the results on the on line retailers. These enterprises can be the canary in the coal mine for both UPS & FedEx.

  • Analyzing Berkshire Hathaway Using The 4 Filters Test [View article]
Excellent article and great comments from everyone else -

Once Warren and Charlie are no longer guiding the company, does anyone think the company would pay a dividend to the stock owners? I've owned WMT for 20 years and during the early years the dividend was nothing to be excited about. Now their dividend provides a meaningful source of quarterly cash flow.

Warren is opposed to paying dividends to shareholders however nearly all of the companies he make investments on are dividend paying enterprises. I'm nearing retirement and own a some IBM which is on my to sell and harvest some tax losses list. I was thinking of using the proceeds to purchase some Berkshire B stock - not quite a washed sale! I'm not reliant on dividend income on all of my savings so I am wondering if today's valuation a decent entry point?

  • Comparing 'Sleep Soundly' CEF And ETF Portfolios [View article]
1st rate article - very well presented and thoughtful - and your replies to the various comments also are as of high quality and as thoughtful. I do have a question - is your portfolio designed to fund your living expenses on a quarterly or monthly basis? Or do you start the year with a portion of cash and allow the dividends to accrue?

  • Whole Foods Is Not A Buy Here [View article]
I own the stock and will buy some more - I often shop there and every time I visit the store I smile and feel good - there's energy there with the shoppers and the employees. I think the stock will do well - even with these drops in the stock - the long term will prove owning it was a solid investment -

I enjoyed your article and I learned a few things. I'm wondering how much your trading costs are during the year? Sometimes those expenses will place a good dent in your return. I also thought to suggest writing some covered calls on a small portion of your RTN - I had a large similar position on WMT - and the covered calls helped add some income during its trading range. If you keep the covered call positions very modest - it won't cause too much of a capital gain bite if called away.

Good luck & thanks for the nice article

  • This Could Be The Perfect ETF For A Roth IRA [View article]
Great article - I've owned Guggenheim's RSP and CVY within my Roth - and have rounded out the balance with PowerShare PCEF -
1/5 RSP, 3/5 CVY & 1/5 PCEF - PCEF has been a great yield machine but perhaps what you suggest would have been much better - I'll know soon after back testing - thanks again.

  • Listed Private Equity: From Skeptic To Believer [View article]
Within some managed accounts I noticed that some managers avoided PSP and others because these include the whole group of PE while perhaps you'd be better off owning the best of breed - such as Appolo, Blackstone and Cargyle
