  • Inside My Portfolio: What I Hold And Why [View article]
I love your work on here, I'm finally learning about how mREITS work. Are you so heavily invested in REITs because you understand them so well, or is it because they pay such great dividends? And what is your overall yield on the above portfolio based on your purchase prices if you don't mind me asking? THanks again for your great write ups.

Thanks for the response I appreciate it. I thought BCDs use K1 forms and issue the dividends as business income. So your saying they instead issue DIV1099s? Sorry I'm asking about holding BCDs in our regular accounts and in the IRA since I have both.

I love your article and your analysis and the what your doing. I'm doing something similar to you. I have a question.
    1. How does all the BCD income effect your taxes in the IRA account. I thought you can only get 1000 of BCD, other business income, in an IRA before having to pay taxes on it?

Great article. So what happens more specifically to the people who purchased after 2012? If the government must compensate the people before 2012 would the government issue them checks, and cancel out the stock?

  • Annaly Capital Management And Inflated MBS Market [View article]
So if were looking for growth in book value from an mREIT we are most likely going to be disappointed due to the compensation structures being linked to total assets under management. If were looking for steady dividend then we are most likely going to be satisfied. Now the tricky aspect is when were looking for total return, growth in BV and dividend.

  • Farmland Partners expands in Michigan [View news story]
long term as they raise rents the farmers will not renew the leases and the company will stall. People can only afford modest prices for food. I know when I grocery shop I don't buy much produce or fruit that's out of season because its too expensive. Will consumers pay 3.00 for a small box of blueberries??

  • Farmland Partners: Can Growth Outrun The REIT Pullback? [View article]
Also a factor that people are ignoring is that farming is a very difficult business and it requires that the soil and the water resources are properly used. If the soil is degraded by farmers who don't care because they are just renting that's a big issue.

  • Hybrid Dividend Income Portfolio: Hidden Gems And Rising Income [View article]
I like your theme and your portfolio a lot. I'm starting to do the same thing. However I've made a few different choices. I think the portfolio needs at least 1 or 2 clean energy yieldcos. The yieldcos have great yield and growth. Also I think you should include a resource royalty company in the portfolio. If it were my portfolio I would add HASI, and Altius. Best of luck and let me know what you think

Ken, thanks for the response and my view is similar to yours in term of investing. In fact I huge fan of yours and that is why I like asking you questions here and on your site. I'm currently buying commodities because I concur with your thesis on this subject. I was just simply asking if you like SA, have you at least thought about PVG. PVG has had a huge sell in the last week.
