  • How Much Kinder Morgan Is Too Much For A Dividend Growth Investor? [View article]
Mike, kmi is the biggest position I've ever owned & my basis is in the high 30's. Am down at least $30 or $40k which would be a big loss.
I, too, have read Valuentum & others' negative assessments of net earnings/cash flow/ debt.
But I've been reading that since before the consolidation, before I owned it, & the dividends just kept increasing while the KMP price held stable in the 70's, which is why I didn't buy until the consolidation.
I have never sold out of fear & won't start now unless I see a strong consensus among some of the Kinder fans here on SA who are rabid number crunchers & still sanguine about the stock.
Even Brian Nelson of Valuentum states, if I remember correctly, that at $29 KMI would be fairly priced. So I may be hugely down on paper - but Hell - I'm in it for the income!
Thanks Mike & everybody who keeps up with the stock.
I am not a financial analyst & just watch out for the canaries in the gold mine....

Buddy, would you share where you heard the internal KMI analyst? No one else has referred to these "rumblings" & I read everything KMI related on SA and anywhere else I see it.
    Thanks

Richjoy, I read with great amusement & appreciation your long profile commentary, & see why your moniker is richjoy. Yes, Naples is beautiful; my mom used to live there, as does Rich Young's Intelligence Report, my first & longest subscribed financial newsletter.

    Enjoyed your horse analogy.

Re your Core Holdings criteria: Is KMI among your core holdings? Does it still meet your criteria despite the negative drumbeat from Valuentum/ Barrons?

Also: What is your mathematical criteria for trimming a holding?

Am very long on KMI at a fair loss & wondering if I should trim to limit portfolio overweighting if price increases substantially in future. At what price would you trim KMI? My cost basis is around 40.

    Thanks,
SDI Fi-Slut,who also enjoys monitoring portfolio.

Albert: Thank you SO much for your positive take on KMI. As it's my largest position ever, the negative spewing from Brian Nelson has had me quaking in my boots.

I listened to the KMI webcast & tho I"m not a financial analyst, it sounded pretty upbeat, especially in Q&A where analysts seemed satisfied with the answers.

Those of us non CFOs who manage our own portfolios rely mightily on SA to crunch the numbers and enlighten us. I added to my position yesterday at $36 & wish I had more cash to add. Viva La Kinder!

    Mr. Johnnson,

You are obviously highly respected and experienced. How do you respond to Reader 128's analysis of Valuentum?

I am not qualified to determine who is accurate.

Would much appreciate your response, despite your being a Valuentum subscriber and supporter.

    Pischuler

At what price or indicator would you sell?

"But these are not "normal" economic conditions. There is a lot of uncertainty out there. I will be vigilant to notice whether my KMI cult stock doesn't turn south in the direction of Jonestown."

    Chuck,

Would you have sold KMI after reading Reader 1283921's analysis of Valuentum?

I am not capable of evaluating his due diligence but it sounds as if you are.

I want to buy more KMI but Brian scares me.....

    Thanks,
    Fi-Slut

User 128....as a non analyst, I so appreciate all the time, effort & expertise you have put into refuting Valuentum's dissing of KMI, my largest position.
I just got some more cash and would love to buy more; you give me courage.

Brian I am very long KMI & very disturbed by your warnings. If u are going to write for SA, please have the courtesy to RESPOND on SA. You'd then be more likely to attract subscribers should u turn out to be right.
