  • Why Nobody Is Talking About Social Security [View article]
I know, but I just get tired of all the media, talking heads, and etc. just calling it all entitlement programs. I am only 44 so it's not really my business anyway, but the talk really puts stress on my family members, retired friends and coworkers, etc. Thanks for your response!!!

  • 4 Must Own 12% Yielding mREITs And 1 To Avoid [View article]
I am not worried about day-today or week- to- week squak?. I am not very educated, but my savings account earns .5%, guess I found a better bank. My concern/question was that the names that I mentioned, when ran through an intrinsic value type screen, all show to have a value in excess of the current price(some very much so), except for NLY. I am cautiously long NLY because its intrinsic value appears to be so much lower than its current price, compared to the others mentioned. I hope I am wrong, but that was the reason I was on this site trying to learn or gain some information/insight as to why. Thanks to all!!!

Long cmo, pmt, two, agnc, and nly. Think I want to own some more of all except nly based on evaluations. I am unsure because of dollar printing and QE issues. Thanks to the author, contributors, and commentors, I will check out amtg, hts, cys, anh, and acas. Thanks in advance for your input, fairly new to reits!

  • Anything Can Go To Zero [View article]
I agree with the 10% rule and personally allocate less than 5% ,and never again will(lost too much money). It's extremely hard to do due diligence on a lot of stocks, but,to say that 20+ Buffett/Graham/ intrinsic type value stocks or the top dividend payers in the S&P 500, or high earning companies with land,fixtures,equipmen... and limited or no debt could go to zero? In my opinion if that happens,it's going to be so ugly the market and fiat currencies are not going to matter anyway! Thanks to the author and comments, lots of food for thought!!!

Thanks to the author and for all comments. Sparked a lot of thoughts and different opinions, why I like seeking alpha so much. Long dividend and growth dividends, a couple of speculative growth, and one third cash at the moment.

Why is it an "entitlement" if you pay into it for 40 years? You are only getting a portion of your money back. To me, it is only an entitlement if you receive more than you pay, such as several generations living on welfare and subsidized housing without ever having to pay into the system, even free cell phones and minutes, what the %$#@?
