  • Is Family Dollar still in play? [View news story]
Well sometimes it is luck. But a common strategy is to take a beaten down stock; accumulate a position and then make noise about changes. Unfortunately this strategy is not available to the regular investors.

  • Is Family Dollar still in play? [View news story]
Carl Icahn should be fortunate to take his money and be happy with the 25% return today. I have owned Family Dollar Stores in the past and the only thing that I heard about them was how rotten the stores were. I wish that all of my undervalued stocks should be so fortunate.

  • Bed Bath And Beyond Is Undervalued, With 10-20% Upside [View article]
Yes this group has been punished but has sprung to life the last few days as I see value there and of much more importance is that others may have begun to see it as well perhaps as a safety zone in comparison to many of the other fully or overvalued groups. I was particularly encouraged that many of the names held up well yesterday in spite of the dismal retail numbers which came out.

  • Bed Bath And Beyond Is Undervalued, With 10-20% Upside [View article]
Yes it may be here. However, retail seems to be showing a little life in the last several days and BBBY is an established retailer which I think will not disappear. I do notice many BBBY bags around in the streets. P/E is low and see minimal downside.

  • Is Noble A Better Buy Than Ensco? [View article]
Thanks for the concise comparison. I hold as well as trade both stocks. Both are in the bargain basement and have been in a trading range although both have seemingly established their bottoms. I am patiently waiting for both companies to make meaningful advances from these levels which will come but am unsure when. However, thanks again for the analysis distinguishing between these two companies.

  • Bed Bath And Beyond Is Undervalued, With 10-20% Upside [View article]
Thanks for a concise summmary of BBBY and where it stands. Buying any S&P 500 company near their low will generally result in decent returns with limited downside. I bought BBBY on Thursday in the 63-64 range and traded some but am still holding half of the position. I am particularly encouraged by its trading during yesterday's market rout. This normally tells much about it s upcoming next move.

  • Why HCI Is Still A Buy After Last Year's Gains (And Last Week's Losses) [View article]
Thanks for the vote of confidence. One thing that I have noticed about this stick is that the trading volume is extremely light with very wide gaps which creates opportunities to buy the stock at very good prices whenever you place a reasonable size bid. Of course, this will work in your favor whenever the tide turns and the stock heads north.

  • Why HCI Is Still A Buy After Last Year's Gains (And Last Week's Losses) [View article]
The announcement of the $40M buyback today which corresponds to about 10% of the stock helped it today. Hopefully the tide has now turned although possibly several weeks later than I thought it would. Any large-scale buybacks that I have encountered in the past have done wonders for the stock; I have MPC in mind. $40M is not a huge buyback but is massive for a company of this size. Hopefully management knows something that the majority of us do not know.

  • Why HCI Is Still A Buy After Last Year's Gains (And Last Week's Losses) [View article]
I just bought stock in HCI yesterday in the morning as well as the afternoon after the large drop on Wednesday. I was surprised to see a further drop yesterday after Wednesday's clobbering but this is a great P&C company reasonably valued and should retrace the gap besides being a decent long-term holding. There are only 11 million shares outstanding so this should be an advantage when the tide turns maybe even starting today.

  • Ensco: Underrated 5.8% Dividend Yield With Growth Ahead [View article]
Thank you for an informative article. I re-establlished a position in ESV mid day once the earnings news had been fully digested. Definitely far more reward than risk at these prices. I am also very interested in the other drilling companies as well and have similar sentiments. Dividends on ESV and NE were raised 50% recently.

  • Rowan Companies: Strong EPS Growth Through 2015 [View article]
Thank you for your concise article on RDC. I recently established a position in RDC based on their growth potential. I am waiting for better consistent performance in these stocks as they seem to have started an uptrend several times but there has not been follow through.

  • Coach: Ripe For Takeover? [View article]
Thank you for the facts surrounding Coach. I am in agreement except that I feel that it offers tremendous values at this level. I do not exactly have great confidence in the company as I did sell my position the day of earnings and started my position again on the two days after earnings. Dividend and a low P/E should bode well for Coach investors at this price level.

  • Riverbed: An Undervalued Growth Stock PT. II [View article]
Thank you for the informative article. I have been following Riverbed for some time and have gone in and out. I just recently established a position again the low 14s and feel comfortable and confident with it. I feel that it is one of the few technology values and am ready to add to my position should it dip a little further.

  • Noble: Driller Delivers Stellar Results And Is Going Higher [View article]
I agree with you regarding the results and prospects for Noble. Unfortunately, for whatever reason it does not seem to break through 40 and more recently has been range bound between 37 and 38.50. I continually trade Noble successfully within this range yet feel that something is wrong as other oil service companies have reacted much more positively to their good results. I feel that there is tremendous value here and I am sure that I will establish a position in Noble again very soon. Hopefully the stock will show some growth to reflect their good prospects and not become a value trap.

  • Homebuilder Horton - Hold, Fold Or Double-Down? [View article]
Thanks for a great informative article. I bought shares several days ago at what I feel is a bargain price of 18.96. Based on valuation measures, I feel that the risk-reward ratio is extremely favorable at this price level since it has dropped significantly from its highs earlier this year.
