Best investment I ever made was 53 years ago when I bought a $700.00 engagement ring which turned into a buy and hold deal with dividends accruing daily.

  • Rexahn Pharmaceuticals: One Biotech To Buy For A Catalyst-Filled 2015 [View article]
Appears to me to be an inordinate, continuing interest by an author who has no shares in or business relations with a spec company.
I will not be a purchaser--even with caution.
    Just to much info

I didn't regard his revelation as advice--just informing his followers of his trade--as he has committed to do.

  • Wal-Mart Set To Deliver Strong Performance In The Long Term [View article]
Glad for Joe in Nova Scotia.(previous commentator)
I stopped shopping at the neighborhood Walmart on Skyline in Cape Coral Fl simply because they would not hire enough staff to maintain the checkout counters.
Usually 3 plus in every line and 10 minute wait not unusual.
Are they attempting to force customers to use the self checkouts to then reduce staff?
    Did'nt work with me

  • Get U.S. Dividends From Canadian Dividend Stocks [View article]
As migdu points out it is beneficial from the cost of conversion and as a Canadian who spends equal time in each country (182 vs 183 days ) and more money in the US than Canada I regard it as a hedge for certain fixed costs I have in each country.
It is considerably cheaper for me to buy many necessities in the US than in Canada---clothing, sports equipment, tires, auto maintenance, some electrical appliances, computer paper, printer ink, magazine subscriptions razor blades, over the counter meds. etc .Some are small item but they all add up.

  • The Future Of Seeking Alpha, From One Contributor's Perspective [View article]
Personally I have,by the process of elimination, come to rely on a select core of contributors to SA ~ 6 to 8.
These are authors who tend to concentrate on specific areas of endeavor--be it long term dividend security or REITs or conglomerates.
I read all of their articles, which provides me with enough fodder to continue on expand my own research and backcheck their conclusions. Next I will search for all articles on a specific company and quickly weed out the chaff---either by the depth (or lack thereof) of the individual authors and more particularly by the comments section whereby those readers before me have already excoriated articles that lack substance.
SA itself provides a loose guide to the qualifications and efficacy of its contributors by listing the number of followers each contributor has amassed--they have weathered the threshhold of credability.
It has been suggested that frequent contributors may be using "hired" support staff to write or draft articles for their signature--I do not object to this tactic--but suggest the purported author acknowledge the same lest he be accused of plagerism. However in defense of those contributors I have found that their articles often exceed an acceptable standard.
I am still uncertain as to the purpose of the proposed changes--and note that certain contributors are uneasy also.
Is it a money grab, and if so by who.
I do not object, and actually do believe in paying for quality, (hence subs to Barrons,IBD and WSJ), but like to know the beneficiaries and qualifications of my payees.
I have found no reason to change the format or matrix of SA--maybe the editors could further expand on the reasons and intended benefits.
