  • BlackBerry Surprises With Profit Even As Subscriber Loss Deepens [View article]
Although there are no consistently reliable patterns in the market, it does seem as though, on those days where BBRY shares appreciate, that there tends to be a fairly steep dip towards the end of the day...As I'm pretty new at this, perhaps someone could shed a little light on what seems to be happening here...

  • An Explanation For BlackBerry's Short Interest Spike [View article]
Yup...Gone are the days when the Government used to step in to help...They'll only do so, if failure to act will have political consequences and even then, very reluctantly!

  • BlackBerry: Are You Ready For This? [View article]
    Thanks for your advice Ashraf,

I'm not a sophisticated trader...(perhaps one day!), but I did manage to take about 1600 shares off the table on Wednesday afternoon at $14.86. I broke even on those.

The rest is currently in play at $16.+, which I wasn't yet prepared to take a loss on, if it comes to that. So I still have enough in the game to make some money, but not enough to sink the whole ship.

In the worse case scenario, I now have a bit of dry powder, to average down my costs, if the news is less than stellar tomorrow.

    Regards and happy hunting!

  • BlackBerry 10 Sales Estimates Are A Joke [View article]
Hmmm....Well, although I'm Canadian I have always purchased the highest quality product that I could afford regardless of where it was made. Very often, that means that I buy a lot of American built products as in my experience, products made in the U.S. tend to be of very high quality.

While I do fly Canadian built aircraft, most of my technology, (Dell, Cannon, Western Digital, Sony, Epson, etc. is clearly made somewhere else).

I would very much like to see BBRY succeed, but I am not aware of any 'Buy Canadian' mentality. Respectfully, perhaps, the Canadian carriers are more open minded and just recognize a good product when they see it.

  • BlackBerry Has Taken A Licking, But Will Keep On Ticking [View article]
It's hard to blame the high percentage of shorts from piling on, as the market continues to reward them handsomely and regularly!

  • BlackBerry: Z Is For Zero [View article]
I run and manage all of the technology in our household...literally dozens of devices...For what it's worth, about 95 % of it was purchased online!

Nothing beats the comfort of shopping from home and besides, I always do extensive research first and inevitably seem to know a fair bit more about the product I'm purchasing than the average sales rep!

  • BlackBerry Bounces 15%: Why? [View article]
... Sorry, I'm new to this stuff as well... Did a short squeeze contribute to the 15% jump, or not? Also, why did the stock price drop today?

Trying to learn as much as possible...Thanks!

  • The BlackBerry Z10 (BBRY +1.4%) will hit AT&T store shelves on March 22, says Bloomberg - N4BB previously reported of a March 15 launch. Separately, Jefferies' Peter Misek, who upgraded shares on Jan. 18, says his checks indicate no Z10 inventory buildup, and that any price cuts are normal for a new smartphone. Pac Crest had reported different findings. [View news story]
He's probably referring to the iPod Touch...

Admittedly pro BBRY this time, but conclusions are still poorly substantiated.

  • BlackBerry 10: No 'Killer App,' Investors Lose [View article]
Granted, I still use an iPhone and have never used a Blackberry, my wife on the other hand has one issued to her for work and is very much looking forward to her BBRY upgrade when it arrives.

Clearly, from the multitude of very positive reviews, it's going to be a great phone and will hopefully help to get the company back on its feet.

Perhaps someone could explain to me what the story is on the apps and why having only 70,000 is a potential problem, according to some. I don't understand what difference it makes whether you have 70,000 or 250,000 apps. I only use about 10 or 20 of my apps on a consistent basis. Sure, there are probably a few more apps that might be of use to me, but if a person can't find what they're looking for from a group of some 70,000, then the lack of apps isn't the problem!
