Chart: Biotech Stocks - Week Over Week Price & Volume Breakouts

While last week's price movement in the Biotech sector ranged from +9.6% (NASDAQ:NABI) to -9.0% (OTCQB:TELK), trading volume increased by more that 180% for both PHRM and GPRO. A new 52 week high was made by GPRO ($58.30), and a new 52 week low was made by AFFX ($27.26).

Key developments that drove individual stocks:

โ— On April 28th, Morgan Stanley cut Pharmion's (PHRM) 2006 earnings esitmate to -$1.31/share from -$1.07/share.

โ— On May 2nd, Gen-Probe (NASDAQ:GPRO) reported Q1 2006 net income of $0.27/share, beating analyst expectations of $0.21/share. Gen-Probe also raised its net income guidance from $0.95-$1.05/share to $0.98-$1.08/share.
