Cramer's Lightning Round - Need Clarity on Anadarko (5/13/10)

by: Miriam Metzinger

Stocks discussed on the lightning round session of Jim Cramer's Mad Money TV Program, Thursday May 13.

Bullish Calls:

General Mills (NYSE:GIS): "Alright, she is in good shape… Do you know that that was only one of a handful of stocks… the 52 week high today? That is remarkable… we believe in Ken Powell [CEO], we have reiterated buying General Mills literally since this show has started… a 52 week high on this nasty day… what does that tell you? It tells you that it is a winner… and Powell is a winner."

Standard Pacific (SPF): "If that stock goes below $5, we are going to pull the trigger big time."

Nordic American Tanker (NYSE:NAT): "I have got to tell you, Herbjorn Hanssen [CEO] just threw us a huge dividend that yields more than 7%… It is absolutely smoking… the rates are going up… I am doing a super-dee duper strong buy of NAT… you want to pick this up while it still yields close to 7.5%."

Varian Semiconductor (NASDAQ:VSEA): "I think that you are doing well… that actually has more momentum than almost all of the others… you have got a winner… and I want to buy it… people are selling all of the semis and it is a big mistake."

Westport Innovations (NASDAQ:WPRT), Cummins (NYSE:CMI): "Is it any wonder that that hit a 52 week high when they make the engine that people need for clean energy fueling?… That is right, this company makes the engines that do natural gas...It is a winner… but let me give you a better one that is safer… CMI and Westport Innovations are the plays on trucks and natural gas."

Bearish Calls:

Anadarko Petroleum (NYSE:APC): "This is a tough one… [CEO] Jim Hackett, a friend of the show, fabulous, fabulous man… has done so many things right… has made Mad Money viewers so much money… but they were the partner on this rig… and we don’t have any clarity on APC… I would love to tell you just to go buy it… but that would be not prudent of me… we do not have clarity about how much they are going to be on the hook for… so right now I have to say stay away from them… and that really hurts because I think it is a great company… but I need to know more."

Hovnanian (NYSE:HOV): "You know that I like the homebuilders, but I cannot go there… I cannot go there… that one is just not good enough for me… I am sorry that I have to pass on Hovnanian… I cannot recommend them all, and Hovnanian is the one that I can’t… "

SandRidge Energy (NYSE:SD): "That last quarter was awful… just plain awful… I want Tom (Warren, the CEO) to come on (the show)...that is why I have to be sideline on this. I have got so many great oils that have come down… Why do I have to press my bet on Sandridge?"
