Cramer's Lightning Round - Canadian Banks Are A Horse Of A Different Color (5/15/14)

by: Miriam Metzinger

Stocks discussed on the Lightning Round segment of Jim Cramer's Mad Money Program, Thursday May 15.

Bullish Calls:

  • Bank of Montreal (NYSE:BMO): "The Canadian banks are a horse of a different color, and I think BMO in particular is excellent."
  • Plug Power (NASDAQ:PLUG): "I was very skeptical of this one. It did raise a lot of money. This is one you buy at $3 and sell at $5."
  • Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM): "The analysts love this thing. Every time it goes down, they say 'Buy.' I'm sure tomorrow, because it was down today, they will be all over it. Don't short QCOM. Be long."
  • Carnival Corporation (NYSE:CCL): "I like it. It is a seasonal operator. It had operational problems, and it is back. I'm not minimizing operational problems, but I do like the cruise business, and I like Carnival."

Bearish Calls:

  • JPMorgan (NYSE:JPM): "I think you have horse sense (for selling JPM and buying Bank of Montreal)."
  • Stifel Financial (NYSE:SF): "I'm not crazy about the financials. I think the sector is a bad sector. These are not the place to be with rates what they are."
  • Brocade Communications Systems (NASDAQ:BRCD): "Here's the problem. It is a second-rate company, but its stock can rally. It's a spec that is long in the tooth. There is a lot of competition. Take profits."
  • Himax (NASDAQ:HIMX): "We made the trade. We bought it, and we recommended selling it. It was a good trade. Maybe we could do it again, but my instinct is not right now."
