Cramer's Lightning Round - ConEd Is Behaving Very Badly (5/21/14)

by: Miriam Metzinger

Stocks discussed on the Lightning Round segment of Jim Cramer's Mad Money Program, Wednesday May 21.

Bullish Calls:

  • Consolidated Edison (NYSE:ED): "ED is behaving very badly. It has been a nightmare, and still it is a solid company with a good yield."
  • STMicroelectronics (NYSE:STM): "It is not bad. STM is one of the integrated circuit stories that a lot of people think might get taken over. I don't know about that, but I do think it is inexpensive, and I like it."
  • General Electric (NYSE:GE): "GE had a presentation. It went really well. We said buy it ... It pays you 3%. I hope GE makes that acquisition in France, but France is one difficult place to invest."

Bearish Calls:

  • SodaStream (NASDAQ:SODA): "It is a difficult stock to opine on. On a fundamental basis, you would never recommend it. People say PepsiCo is going to buy it. The CEO Indra Nooyi didn't confirm or deny it. People keep putting words in her mouth. I'm not going to do that. I am not recommending SODA on a fundamental basis, and that is all I'm going to say about it."
  • Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN): "The last Amazon quarter was all growth. This market doesn't like growth. I have to be careful. It has been reduced to being a cult stock without any fundamental reason to recommend it, because the market has changed. Maybe the market will change again. But right now, I don't have a good case to own Amazon."
  • Yandex (NASDAQ:YNDX): "Let's have a look at it after the election (in Russia)."
  • Chart Industries (NASDAQ:GTLS): "There is the component that is liquified natural gas, and that is on fire. Then there is the cryogenic business, and that is not doing that well, and then there are orders from China that are stop and start, so I can't recommend LNG."
  • Galena Biopharma (GALE): "The stock got cut in half. People got mad at me on Twitter that I said to stay away, but that was right. Stay away."
  • PDL BioPharma (NASDAQ:PDLI): "You've got that yield. If it weren't for that yield, that stock would be lower. I don't have anything good to say about it except for that yield."
