Allstate's Earnings And Fundamentals Look Strong, But Not The Value It Once Was

As the second largest personal lines property and casualty insurers (P&C) in the US, Allstate (NYSE:ALL) is hardly an unknown company. Despite this, like so many other firms in the insurance space, the purveyor of P&C insurance, life insurance, and annuities does not get the attention from many investors that the big banks accrue. And that is a shame, because ALL is a solid long-term investment with good earnings power and solid fundamentals. I'd prefer it if the company has a bit less in the way of catastrophe exposure particularly with how soft the pricing is in the space, but the geographic diversity of its book, and the value of its franchise brand help allay my concerns significantly....
