Abercrombie & Fitch had reported positive Q2 results, beating EPS estimates and revenue expectations. At the previous conference call, the company had expected additional charges for store closures and is prepared for an aggressive promotional environment.
Abercrombie & Fitch was downgraded to Hold From Buy at Standpoint Research and downgraded to Sell from Hold at Brean Murray. However, it was upgraded to Buy from Hold at Argus and upgraded to Outperform at BMO Capital. The company was initiated with an Equal Weight at Morgan Stanley and an Outperform at FBR Capital. It reported October SSS up 2%, September SSS up 13%, and August sales up 6%. The positive numbers have been due to better-than-expected back-to-school results, well-executed promotions, and improved merchandise. Detwiler said Abercrombie's October sales have slowed, but are still running in positive territory.
