Cramer's Lightning Round - No Rush To Own Sprint (8/5/14)

Includes: BA, CAT, MMP, S, SAVE, UTX
by: Miriam Metzinger

Stocks discussed on the Lightning Round segment of Jim Cramer's Mad Money Program, Tuesday August 5.

Bullish Calls:

  • Sprint (NYSE:S): "The key word is long term. Nothing is happening short term. It didn't report a good quarter. People feel there has to be a deal. If there is a deal it goes higher. If there is no deal, it works its way higher over time. But it won't be overnight. No rush to own Sprint."
  • Boeing (NYSE:BA): "It did not do as well as I thought it would against Airbus. It is a good stock, but didn't execute well in defense. It did not execute well this quarter. I do think the stock is inexpensive, and I'm a buyer."
  • United Technologies (NYSE:UTX): "Same story as Boeing. UTX is levered to aerospace and to HVAC, which has just been okay. The Otis elevator (business) has not been a blowout. However, this is trying to put in a bottom, and I am a buyer."
  • Magellan Midstream Partners (NYSE:MMP): "It is a terrific situation. MMP is a great growth situation. Buy some here, and buy some lower. I like the management."

Bearish Calls:

  • Caterpillar (NYSE:CAT): "I was bummed that it didn't deliver a better quarter. It is not executing well in China. I cannot push this stock at this level."
  • Spirit Airlines (NASDAQ:SAVE): "I have pulled away a bit. I think the travel stocks are pausing because of a series of unfortunate events overseas. Let's wait a bit and then we'll do some buying."
