Today we take a look at the top 20 U.S. chains with the highest retail sales per square feet of store space. We analyzed all 160+ American retailers (excluding restaurants) who publicly report financial information.
A few notes:
- Signet Jewelers (NYSE:SIG) (Bermuda) and Lululemon Athletica (NASDAQ:LULU) (Canada) are included as the majority of their stores and revenue are derived from the U.S.
- Results include trailing 4-quarter global retail store sales (company-operated stores, outlets, kiosks & shop-in-shops).
- Results exclude e-commerce, catalog, franchise, licensed, wholesale, membership and financial services revenue.
- All store and sales per sq ft data is based on “gross” square feet.
It’s not surprising Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) leads the pack, as there have been numerous articles such as this, but it is quite shocking by how far ahead of the competition they are, especially considering the company only has 10 years of retail experience.
