It appears to me that this merger, if approved, would greatly benefit everyone involved, both companies, all shareholders, as well as customers of both companies.
I do not have stock in either company at this time, but will be watching the proceedings very closely.

Fake News? "Great Plains Energy Inc. GXP and Westar Energy Inc., WR announced a fresh proposal to convince the regulators in providing approval for the $14 billion deal. The Utilities are hoping that the revised merger plan would ease regulatory concerns that had previously invalidated the initial acquisition plan."
