Summary

President of Investment Research at Valuentum Brian Nelson talks about the tragedy of the investment business in using backward-looking information.

In episode 2 of "Off the Cuff," he talks about the absurdity of making prognostications about stock market returns, as well as market sentiment through the price of Boeing.

Brian also talks about how to predict dividend cuts through the example of General Electric. Be sure to comment!

Hi folks,

This is the second episode of a series that I have started called "Off the Cuff," where I get in front of the camera and talk for about 10 minutes each episode. It's low-tech. I know - but it's "authen-tech." I like that. I'll do my best to incorporate feedback and questions going forward, so stay tuned! We have a number of the videos already filmed (now the first nine!), just so you know. We're revving the engines first, and I hope to get into the questions by episode 6.

In this episode (episode 2), I talk about the tragedy of the investment business in using backward-looking information. I walk through how silly it is to make prognostications about stock market returns. Talking through the market sentiment via Boeing (BA), a large capitalization stock that has surged during 2017, and predicting dividend cuts through the General Electric (GE) example are other topics.

Give these videos and the discussions time to get warmed up. They're not made to be fancy. I don't like bells and whistles. They're made to be conversational. I hope you enjoy this second episode and those that follow! Let me know what you think. Don't forget to comment. Thanks!
