Yesterday American Electric Power (NYSE:AEP) announced the purchase of a 505 MW gas-fired peaking facility in West Virginia from Reliant Energy.
It has been a relatively quiet summer for power plant asset sales, as best we can tell. But here is another sale that adds to the landscape of understanding what power plant assets are worth.
The sale was for $100 million, or about $200/KW. Both AEP and Reliant have news releases on the sale:
