China is smart. They have taken advantage of this country's thirst for money. Politicians and Elites have left the front door wide open. Did any of you catch that story about China giving Harvard close to $100Million in endowments? There are close to 2900 Chinese students presently attending Harvard. In January of this year, Dr. Charles Lieber, Chair of Harvard's Chemistry and Chemical Biology was arrested. So were two Chinese Nationals. According to court documents, Dr. Lieber served as the Principal Investigator of the Lieber Research Group at Harvard. His research group received more than $15,000,000 in grants from various organizations. These grants require the disclosure of significant foreign financial conflicts of interests, including financial support from foreign governments or foreign entities. Unbeknownst to Harvard, beginning in 2011, Lieber allegedly became a "strategic scientist" at Wuhan University of Technology in China and was allegedly a contractual participant in China's Thousand Talents Plan. China's Thousand Talents Plan is one of the most prominent Chinese Talent recruit plans that are designed to recruit, attract and cultivate high level scientific talent in furtherance of China's scientific development, economic prosperity and national security. These talent programs seek to lure Chinese overseas talent and foreign experts to bring their knowledge and experience to China and reward individuals for stealing proprietary information. Court documents alledge that under the terms of Lieber's 3 year Thousand Talents contract, Wuhan University paid Lieber $50,000 US per month, living expenses of up to $1,000,000 Chinese Yuan(approximately $158,000 US at the time) and awarded him more than $1.5Million to establish a research lab at Wuhan University. The complaint alledges that Lieber lied about his involvement in the Thousand Talents plan and affiliation with the Wuhan University. Wake up America before its too late.

China has the most complete supply chain, most skilled workers, a fairly stable government, all in all, their people are willing to work extra hours to get unproportional extra pay, even in remote cities and not seeing their families in months or years. It's going to take a while to bring jobs back to US. I hope we Americans can make this happen.

Well you can thank Kissinger for that. He's still alive and kicking. He convinced Nixon to create a One China Policy to distance the Chinese from the Soviets as their relations thawed. Chinese economy that was in the Stone age leapfrogged to number 2 in the world since Nixon granted them Favored Nation Status and minuscule tariffs. True, USSR disintegrated 30 years later, but the goal of the Chinese Communist Party remains the total annihilation of capitalism on their path to communism. Nothing will stop the Chinese unless they agree to link their Yuan to the Dollar, which will then become the true world currency. As the Chinese adamantly refuse, only war, (though a limited one) will bring them back to their senses and to the negotiating table about the Yuan and the Dollar. Their doesn't seem to be any other way, but with our military might, theirs no way we can lose AGAIN! I pray they don't fight till the last man standing. I pray NOT TOO many of our young man and boys are sacrificed AGAIN!

Biden is lying low and keeping his mouth shut. The only one trying to get Biden elected is the "Ole Perfessor" (Trump hissef).

I agree with all your comments that its time to start shifting production of our goods from China to "made in the USA". It is obscene that 90% of our pharmaceuticals are produced in China.
I blame American companies for caving to the cheap production costs for the sake of the almighty dollar. This has been allowed to happen through many administrations, along with a $500 Billion trade deficit. Then along came Trump. Heaven help us if Biden is elected. Do you really think that a Democratic administration under Biden will come down hard on China the way Trump has? Never in a million years will that happen. China is doing everything in its power to see to it that Trump loses the election. Just ask Hunter Biden about the $1Billion that China gave to the Hedge fund that he was a part of.

I agree, it’s so sad that almost everything I look at today is made in China! It’s time we move things made in the USA!
It’s not just us, many countries all over the world are in a similar situation! China really did a number on the world and it’s time the world wake the F up before it’s really too late!

K.I.S.S.:. Don't fight the Fed. The only ones who care where production takes place, are the workers who lost their jobs to outsourcing. The U.S. Gov't, corporations, banks, industry leaders and the Market don't give a damn about you and me. The Fed cares only about the value of the dollar and strive to make it a true world currency. Everyone else kisses the Feds anal orifice so they can suckle on the Feds nipples when rates are dropped and monetary easing gushes out like a rainbow to provide lifeblood to these sucklers on the Feds nipples. Don't think any of us has a chance. The market is near all-time highs, jobs are near all-time LOWS. Mr. Average Joe Worker: Do you still think you have a fighting chance? Until you learn how to suckle on the Feds INFINITE nipples, you don't.

I totally agree with Lonestar, The health of the USA MUST be kept within the USA. Never with others, we accept the added cost.

Products will be more expensive but more Americans will be able to work and will will have a stronger economy.
Hopefully with more Americans working and stronger economy it will mean stronger healthy Americans . One bonus out this will be a cleaner environment as a result of shifting production back to America which has better environmental controls than the Chinese. For a cleaner world . Build American Grow American . Buy American Lastly America help all those truly in need to help themselves.

Agree. Trump pulled us out of the global initiative for clean air our youth depend on to breath and to prevent the catastrophic effects of global warming.

For the United Kingdom this is an important set of cross roads. We have left the European Union and the transition period runs until the end of 2020. We are fortunate that this has occurred before the pandemic, the financial burden coming to aid of many countries economies within the EU is going to be substantial.
But the real decisions to be made is around how we change the UK economy mix. There is an excellent opportunity to turn our attentions to infrastructure and manufacturing to create the much needed jobs and opportunities post pandemic, and to reinvigorate many of our supply chains.
The manufacturing situation vitally important - yes we cannot compete against Asian / African work forces over wages, but if you weigh up the carbon footprint cost, cost of being dependant on others - these costs will even up versus the cost of labour.

We have to extract ourselves from dependence on China for anything. That has been clear for decades. Politicians in both parties have recognized and complained about this situation for decades but did nothing about the massive offshoring of our production ability, wealth and related jobs. Nothing could make the danger more clear than our dependence on them for medicines and medical supplies needed to treat a pandemic they started. It’s past time for politicians and corporate leaders to grow a spine and correct this clearly untenable situation.

We're definitely going to have fundamental changes to our supply chain. Our government officials have caved to thebnotion that China's cheap labor and lax regulations for manufacturing were worth the price of admission. This pandemic is, hopefully, the final nail in the coffin of outsourcing our supply chain to a police state like China. Sonletbthe onshoring begin and the infrastructure build will create millions of new jobs. That's an America first policy most of us can support.
