This is the go-to destination for political comments on Seeking Alpha. These comments are not regulated with the same rigor as the rest of the site, and this is an 'enter at your own risk' area as discussion can get very heated. If you can't stand the heat...you know what they say...The one guideline we do still require strict adherence to is refraining from personal attacks on fellow commenters. Regardless of which side of the political divide you find yourself, please be courteous and don't direct abuse at other users.

Gaaack! Atlanta Fed says we may have had a 50%+ decline in GDP in the second quarter. Hopefully that is the worst and we begin to recover from here. But when we see new hot spots for the virus popping up in Alabama and Florida and S. Dakota and Iowa and in a couple counties here in WA. State it makes clear that this is far from over.

Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, released a message to top military commanders on Wednesday affirming that every member of the armed forces swears an oath to defend the Constitution, which he said “gives Americans the right to freedom of speech and peaceful assembly.”

Trump Defends Church Photo Op: ‘I Think It Was Very Symbolic’

From the mouth of the raging lunatic to our ears, Trump is right
t
Symbolic of what? Not even the President can tell us except to say he is a law and order guy (except when it came to contracts he bailed out on and his University and his charity etc etc)

Renewable power is increasingly cheaper than any new electricity capacity based on fossil fuels, a new report by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) published today finds. Renewable electricity costs have fallen sharply over the past decade, driven by improving technologies, economies of scale, increasingly competitive supply chains and growing developer experience. Since 2010, utility-scale solar PV power has shown the sharpest cost decline at 82%, followed by concentrating solar power (CSP) at 47%, onshore wind at 39% and offshore wind at 29%. Renewable Power Generation Costs in 2019 shows that more than half of the renewable capacity added in 2019 achieved lower power costs than the cheapest new coal plants.

Replacing the costliest 500 GW of coal with solar PV and onshore wind next year would cut power system costs by up to USD 23 billion every year and reduce annual emissions by around 1.8 gigatons (Gt) of carbon dioxide (CO2), equivalent to 5% of total global CO2 emissions in 2019. It would also yield an investment stimulus of USD 940 billion, which is equal to around 1% of global GDP. www.irena.org/...

Carbon Plants have closing at a faster pace than before! But need to retrain thpopse miner etc!
g
The United Kingdom electricity grid goes coal-free for first month since Industrial Revolution.

Wind and solar generated 28% of all electricity consumed.

Very symbiotic.

Burning coal causes global warming, then global warming eliminates the need to burn coal.

This from Jim "Mad Dog" Mattis: www.mediaite.com/... Well, there goes Trump's support among the military. I can hardly wait to see the rationalization of the right wing nutters in this string.
B
Expect a vicious tweet-lashing by the Commander in Tweet tonight.
Giorgio il Buffone profile picture
"Well, there goes Trump's support among the military. "

How do you figure?

Mattis only represents himself.
B
Then, the flying howler monkeys will be released, and we will be bombarded with all this cut and paste and links to stuff denigrating Mattis sourced from the echo chamber.

Three former Minneapolis police officers were charged Wednesday with aiding and abetting murder in connection with the death of George Floyd in their custody, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison announced Wednesday.

Derek Chauvin, a fourth former officer who had already been charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter, will now also be charged with second-degree murder, Ellison said.
Giorgio il Buffone profile picture
Hah.

I said there were good reasons to charge chauvin with 2nd degree murder.
Henry Miles profile picture
