Gaaack! Atlanta Fed says we may have had a 50%+ decline in GDP in the second quarter. Hopefully that is the worst and we begin to recover from here. But when we see new hot spots for the virus popping up in Alabama and Florida and S. Dakota and Iowa and in a couple counties here in WA. State it makes clear that this is far from over.

Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, released a message to top military commanders on Wednesday affirming that every member of the armed forces swears an oath to defend the Constitution, which he said “gives Americans the right to freedom of speech and peaceful assembly.”

Symbolic of what? Not even the President can tell us except to say he is a law and order guy (except when it came to contracts he bailed out on and his University and his charity etc etc)

Renewable power is increasingly cheaper than any new electricity capacity based on fossil fuels, a new report by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) published today finds. Renewable electricity costs have fallen sharply over the past decade, driven by improving technologies, economies of scale, increasingly competitive supply chains and growing developer experience. Since 2010, utility-scale solar PV power has shown the sharpest cost decline at 82%, followed by concentrating solar power (CSP) at 47%, onshore wind at 39% and offshore wind at 29%. Renewable Power Generation Costs in 2019 shows that more than half of the renewable capacity added in 2019 achieved lower power costs than the cheapest new coal plants. Replacing the costliest 500 GW of coal with solar PV and onshore wind next year would cut power system costs by up to USD 23 billion every year and reduce annual emissions by around 1.8 gigatons (Gt) of carbon dioxide (CO2), equivalent to 5% of total global CO2 emissions in 2019. It would also yield an investment stimulus of USD 940 billion, which is equal to around 1% of global GDP. www.irena.org/...

The United Kingdom electricity grid goes coal-free for first month since Industrial Revolution.Wind and solar generated 28% of all electricity consumed.

Very symbiotic.Burning coal causes global warming, then global warming eliminates the need to burn coal.

Three former Minneapolis police officers were charged Wednesday with aiding and abetting murder in connection with the death of George Floyd in their custody, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison announced Wednesday.Derek Chauvin, a fourth former officer who had already been charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter, will now also be charged with second-degree murder, Ellison said.
