News of The Day:

SpaceX’s SN10 Starship prototype rocket exploded Wednesday upon landing on its launch pad after a high-altitude flight test.

The space company, founded by Elon Musk, successfully launched the spacecraft and completed a “belly flop” maneuver in the air before landing vertically. But minutes later, SN10 exploded on the concrete pad. The cause of the explosion was not immediately clear.

Musk’s goal is to develop a Starship capable of transporting people and cargo on missions to the moon and Mars. The unmanned flight was SpaceX’s third suborbital test since February when its SN9 prototype exploded during its descent.

“Starship SN10 landed in one piece,” Musk tweeted, ignoring the rocket’s explosion. “SpaceX team is doing great work! One day, the true measure of success will be that Starship flights are commonplace.”

I bet people are signing up like crazy, to fly on Musk's Starship. Yeah.

During a meeting at the White House, a reporter asked Biden for his reaction to the policy changes in "Texas and Mississippi."

The president responded:

"I think it's a big mistake. Look, I hope everybody's realized by now, these masks make a difference. We are on the cusp of being able to fundamentally change the nature of this disease because of the way in which we're able to get vaccines in people's arms...And the last thing — the last thing — we need is the thinking that in the meantime, 'everything's fine, take off your mask, forget it.'"

Biden went on to say that as of the day before, 511,874 Americans had died of COVID-19, and that the nation would "lose thousands more" before full vaccination is achieved.

"It still matters," he reiterated, "It's critical, critical, critical, critical that they follow the science."

"Neanderthal."

That's a pretty big word for Biden to be using.

@David Crosetti Other than your final dig, Biden's comments that you reported are a refreshing change from “We have it totally under control”; “USA in great shape!”; and, of course, “Fake news”.

Liberal pundits and reporters who showered New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo with praise and accolades are backtracking amid a pair of high-profile scandals that have tarnished his political future

Cuomo has been accused of sexual harassment or unwanted sexual advances by multiple women while still under fire over his handling of nursing home deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic. Suddenly, the former media darling is facing calls to step down from critics on both sides of the aisle and Empire State lawmakers have moved to repeal his executive powers.

Daily Beast editor-at-large Molly Jong-Fast once penned a featured about her coronavirus-era crush on the governor. “All of a sudden, I love Governor Cuomo, his soothing Queens accent, his stories about his dad Mario,” Jong-Fast wrote in March 2020.

What a difference a year and a few scandals make.

Jong-Fast’s latest piece is headlined, “‘My Cuomo ‘Crush’ Turned Out to Be Stockholm Syndrome,” aims to distance herself from the embattled governor.

Star New York Times media columnist Ben Smith apparently deleted an old tweet that declared,” All Andrew Cuomo’s worst qualities are serving him and New York, well.”

CNN editor-at-large Chris Cillizza has completely changed his tune on the “Love Guv,” too. Cillizza, who once suggested Cuomo could be the “single most popular politician in America” and “the most important voice in the coronavirus crisis.”

Cillizza wrote last year, “Andrew Cuomo said he’ll never run for president. That’s a mistake.”

Cillizza received the top spot when columnist Drew Holden recently ranked the worst Cuomo takes. “Cillizza’s fangirlish coverage stands alone as the most egregious,” Holden wrote.

However, Cillizza doesn’t appear to be a huge fan of Cuomo anymore. On Monday he published a feature headlined, “Andrew Cuomo is trying to stall on sexual harassment allegations. It won’t work.”

You know what they say? "Rat's flee a sinking ship."

@David Crosetti You're right, my God - journalists you describe as "liberal" are demonstrating integrity! How dare they??! Shouldn't they be doubling down, obstinately defending the man because he is a Democrat?

Hmmm, journalistic independence is refreshing, isn't it?
David Crosetti profile picture
@Jack T Bonds

If you think that's integrity, then you don't know the meaning of the word. They are turning on Cuomo for survival. They are sticking to the sex scandal because they can't bring themselves to admit that policies of Cuomo, Wolf, Whitmer, and Newsom killed senior citizens in the same way that Hitler killed Jews. On purpose. With that being the end game.

But talk about his sexual harassment like anyone really gives a shit other than a bunch of looney tunes.

Calling decisions like those of Gov. Abbot "Neanderthal thinking" is a disservice to Neanderthals.
David Crosetti profile picture
Why is the media so focused on Andrew Cuomo's "sexual misconduct" issues, when the more important story is how he murdered so many senior citizens in his state by mandating Covid-19 patients be put into nursing homes?
C. King Alpha Flunkie profile picture
@David Crosetti Hmmm, you're right. Trump's sexual misconduct issues were played down as merely "locker room" behavior and there was much greater focus on his responsibility for hundreds of thousands of Covid-19 deaths. The media should be fair and play down Cuomo's pecadillos, too.

@David Crosetti We don't know, tell us..

@C. King Alpha Flunkie

You didn't answer my question.

Which is more important? Cuomo sexually harassing women or murdering citizens of New York?

People like you really miss Trump, it would seem, because he isn't even in the picture anymore, but you can't stop bringing him up to "make a point."

Here's the thing, though. Trump is irrelevant in the Cuomo paradigm that I presented. But the media is ignoring his murder of seniors, like the media is ignoring the murders committed by Gavin Newsom, Gretchen Whitmer, Phil Murphy, and Tom Wolf.

See, if the media is forced to cover Cuomo's murders, then they have to cover the same murders that Newsom, Whitmer, Murphy, and Wolf committed against the seniors in their states.

But you want to turn this into a Trump thing, because you are suffering from TDS and can't even consider anything without including him in your thoughts.

The guy has been living rent free in your brain for the last 5 years. Time to evict him, don't you think.

Oh, yeah. You don't think.
David Crosetti profile picture
So what is really happening with the media's lack of coverage of Cuomo's murder of thousands of senior citizens?

So what’s going on? Why is America’s corrupt media not at all interested in some 15,000 dead senior citizens while they tar and feather Cuomo over the allegations he made three left-wing women uncomfortable?

The answer is obvious…

Four other Democrat governors issued the same sociopathic nursing home order as Cuomo. Four other Democrats ordered infected coronavirus patients be admitted into nursing home facilities where 1) the most vulnerable live, and 2) they’re not set up to handle an infectious virus.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) issued an order that a long-term care facility “must not prohibit admission or readmission of a resident based on COVID-19 [coronavirus] testing requirements or results.” The policy was renewed three times before being rescinded in July 2020.

Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-CA) administration ordered on April 10, 2020, that “patients hospitalized, or receiving treatment at an alternate care site, with COVID-19 can be discharged to a [skilled nursing facility] when clinically indicated.”

Gov. Phil Murphy (D-NJ) approved a directive from state Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli that said no patient could be denied admission or readmission to a nursing home “solely based on a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19.” …

Gov. Tom Wolf (D-PA) enacted a mandatory admission policy in March, saying “nursing care facilities must continue to accept new admissions and receive readmissions for current residents who have been discharged from the hospital who are stable.”

@David Crosetti Do you live in NY? I'm wondering why the right is so thoroughly obsessed with Cuomo's
handling of the virus when Noem of SD is responsible for way more deaths per capita and has literally bragged about her handling of the virus while lying though her teeth about SD numbers.

NY is #2 in COVID deaths per capita. A densely populated state with about 20M people in 54,556 sq miles

SD is #8 with about 885K population and 77,184 sq miles

Those numbers are truly staggering.

@GreenEggs&Ham we all know they are trying to deflect from Trumps failures
David Crosetti profile picture
@DoubleD44

Let's be clear. Trump had many failures. But do you not see the failure of leadership in Cuomo for his mandating the return of Covid patients back into nursing homes?

Are you ignoring that on purpose or because you are such a defender of all things Democrat?

What if your mom or dad died as a result of Cuomo's incompetence?

The media is making a big deal out of his sexual harassment issues. Seriously? Who gives a shit? He murdered people. Can you not see the distinction between the two things? Sexual harassment. Murder.

Seems two completely different issues and I think murder is the more significant one. Don't you?

The General in charge of the DC area Guard testified this morning, that when it appeared there would be problems last summer, he was given nearly instant approval to deploy the Guard as needed BUT on Jan 6 that approval took almost 4 hours even though desperate pleas for help had gone out from the Capitol police. According to the General, he was informed that the optics of deploying the Guard at the Jan 6th rally did not look good.

@tewright2012 whoever informed him about optics was right but not a reason to not do it. Too much political interference with something very simple.
t
@Namron Damron Someone did not think it looked wrong last summer but I believe those folks were replaced in the last month by Trump who installed some of his allies, like Gen. Tata and Ryan McCarthy, in decision making positions. But you are correct about the optics of troops having to guard the Capitol. It should never have to be seen as necessary.
