My first purchase of this company was in the late 1990s upon the recommendation of the Motley fool, around $34 per share I believe and it’s dividend was running about 6%. I really want to like this company but I can’t say they’ve done very well in the last couple of decades. And now it’s going to be no dividend increase for all of 2021. Sadly, if I need Some tax loss selling this calendar year I think HEP would be a likely candidate.

Make sure you know your basis before selling for a tax loss. If you’ve held since the 90s you likely have a very low basis, meaning a sale would generate a tax gain for you, potentially at ordinary income rates.
