it's embarrassing what's going on at the border, these are lives, children involved

who's in charge??

@BHLH865

It's pretty obvious that no one is in charge.

@David Crosetti

time to stop blaming someone in particular and look in the mirror, and their own policies

hey maybe defunding the police and open boarders will work out just fine?

@BHLH865 "who's in charge??"

Human traffickers.

The non-union employee-owned grocery stores here are thriving. Parking lots full, same checkers year after year, freshest produce.

In my experience you save $10-$40 per shopping cart, and the meat/produce is fresher (high sales volume). The only downside is that it can be crowded, so I go off hours.

129 locations and 20,000 employees.

I'm withdrawn in good standing from three different unions in three different industries. It's great that the Amazon employees decided against unionization.

@crademan That was a fun read. Thanks for sending it. Several of those companies I've done business with in the past and did not know that they were employee-owned. (Edit: Winco is #3 on that list)

Another one came to mind. A bit smaller, but a fun story.

Bob's Red Mill. They sell grains at-retail and ship to natural food stores nationwide. The main facility is about a mile from where I'm sitting.

Bob gave the company to the employees when he was 81.

@daustin97222 I love the Bob's Red Mill story. Thank you for sharing it. Their grains taste so good. Bob's Red Mill Farro is delicious! www.bobsredmill.com/...

I never thought the unionized effort would succeed in Alabama. But the right to try should be guaranteed and strong arm tactics on either side should be illegal. What management did in the late 1800's at Homestead Steel or violent labor actions in 1997-98 in places like Niagara NY lead only to more violence and this country cannot afford to further rupture politically and economically.

NHTSA reports that there were 42,060 car deaths in 2020.

I think that we should ban cars, and especially high-capacity cars. We should pass appropriate laws to curb the development of Level-4 and Level-5 semi-autonomous and autonomous cars. Car violence is at an all-time high.

www.nsc.org/...

14% of these deaths are traumatic brain injury. It's time to consider helmets for all drivers.
t
@daustin97222 I think, in addition to thorough background checks, we need to make gun owners buy liability insurance for every weapon they own and renew it every five years or so.
d
@tewright2012 Renew it every six months.

If the point is to save lives then we should get serious about it.

It's time to consider gun safety. Instead of ignoring it longer.

Just more failure of US leadership.

If the US doesn't enact a Vaccine Passport Act it can't stop pandemics.

"The government is not now nor will we be supporting a system that requires Americans to carry a credential," said White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Tuesday.

While mask mandates quickly became fodder for the culture wars, there's resistance to vaccine passports from all sides. Conservative leaders say they will resist any movement toward a vaccine pass, arguing it's an infringement of individual freedoms.

Some progressives, too, have raised concerns, saying vaccine passport schemes are likely to exacerbate existing inequality. "

@techy46 How can a document which gives you the freedom to travel, to attend cultural and sporting events, and to go to school be "an infringement of individual freedoms"?
Namron Damron profile picture
@techy46 I think the big risk/issue is digitizing the vaccine info but an add on to a passport is ok. If you travel to certain foreign countries, you have to prove you have had certain shots and have to carry certification of that with you as a paper add-on to the passport.

@Jack T Bonds

I'm not against vaccine passports?

I said "If the US doesn't enact a Vaccine Passport Act it can't stop pandemics"

I have no issues with more Federal authority as long as it's universally applied.

I do have problem if Federal laws are avoided like US immigration laws.

Congress needs to enact a National Pandemic Strategy Act.

It should require Vaccination Passports on all foreign travelers.

It should require same on all intrastate travel during pandemics.

Congressional failure is what caused 2020 COVID Pandemic,

These shootings need to be stopped. I just want to see us ban semi and fully automatic weapons. There is no practical need for them. I don't think that's the way Biden is going but getting 'something' done is better than nothing. Problem is, the small laws that are installed do nothing about the existence of these assault weapons. The NRA, the biggest and most influential gun rights group in the country, is consumed by infighting and legal battles. That will likely have a major impact on their ability to fight any legislative. Biden on Thursday called gun violence in the U.S. an “epidemic,” and urged a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, among other congressional actions. Gun violence killed nearly 20,000 people in America in 2020, and has so far killed nearly 5,000 this year. Also, he called it an international embarrassment.... I agree.

This will have the lefties all in an uproar:

Pennsylvania election officials have agreed to remove thousands of dead Americans from its state voter rolls following a lawsuit by the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF).

In November 2020, PILF attorneys filed suit against Pennsylvania election officials, alleging at least 21,000 dead Americans were on the state’s voter rolls less than a month before the 2020 presidential election.

The lawsuit claimed more than 9,200 of the dead Americans on the voter rolls had been dead for at least five years, nearly 2,000 had been dead for at least a decade, and nearly 200 had been dead for at least 20 years.

This just in:

MSNBC said it mistakenly aired video of the wrong black congressman during a recent report on the death of Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL).

“Earlier when reporting on the death of Rep. Alcee Hastings, we showed video of Rep. Bennie Thompson,” the outlet’s Hallie Jackson said in a tweet Tuesday of the mistake that reportedly occurred on her show Hallie Jackson Reports.

Bennie Thompson is outraged. He said: "Mother f*****s, I ain't dead."

A highly anticipated union vote among Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer, Alabama, appeared to be headed toward defeat for the union, and many liberals on Twitter are very angry about it.

The vote count will resume Friday but with half of the votes counted Thursday, only 463 votes supported unionization, while 1,100 votes opposed unionization, more than a 2 to 1 margin.

A total of 3,215 votes were cast in the vote that is being overseen by the National Labor Relations Board.

The unionization effort needs 1,608 votes to win, a "nearly insurmountable climb" according to NBC News.

Some on the left took to Twitter to express their fury and frustration with the failure to unionize Amazon.

"No matter how hard organizers work, when the wealthiest man in the world is pulling out all of the stops to terrify workers & lie to them about unions, and actively punishes people for being pro-union, it's hard to win," Robinson said.

Bezos is one despicable human being. He really is. Why anyone would work for Amazon is beyond me. But, people do weird stuff all the time. Interesting vote, though.

@David Crosetti Is Dominion involved?

Well maybe they work for Amazon to buy necessities?

I guess that's hard for some liberals to figure out?

Interesting. You're a closeted liberal democrat obviously.

Why is Bezos despicable? Be specific and don't repeat what some guy wrote on twitter. Use your words. C'mon, I know you can do it.
