This is the forum for daily political discussion on Seeking Alpha. A new version is published every market day.

Please don't leave political comments on other articles or posts on the site.

The comments below are not regulated with the same rigor as the rest of the site, and this is an 'enter at your own risk' area as discussion can get very heated. If you can't stand the heat... you know what they say...

The one guideline we do still require strict adherence to is refraining from personal attacks on fellow commenters. Regardless of which side of the political divide you find yourself, please be courteous and don't direct abuse at other users.

"Nine months ago today - on Jan. 6, 2021 - an angry mob attacked the U.S. Capitol. I walked around the complex today and it was very calm. As you know, the perimeter security fence is gone - at least for now." twitter.com/...
-----Wolf Blitzer

Oh, how the once mighty have fallen. The reactions to Wolf’s tweet were not positive:

"I remember a years worth of mobs too."
twitter.com/...

— Kambree (@KamVTV) October 6, 2021

It's sad to see Wolf debase himself with juvenile antics like his latest tweet. No doubt he will ever find the courage to rediscover his roots as a genuine journalist. He has become one more cog in the Deep State media machine. A real journalist would be reporting on the staggering hypocrisy of the media covering for Antifa and BLM terrorism while parroting DOJ lies that the American citizens who entered the Capitol on January 6 were terrorists hell-bent on overthrowing the Republic. It is a damnable lie and Wolf’s silence on this makes him complicit in the injustice.

@C. King Alpha Flunkie That's the Trumplings' favorite mood!

He's furious at Wolf Blitzer. He'll go to bed tonight cursing at him.

It's a wonderful life.

@Pinguino Investments Actually, I think it's his job to pretend to be angry about insignificant things.

Marjorie Taylor Greene rants that Fauci won't prescribe ivermectin 'even though it won a Nobel Peace Prize'

While appearing on "Real America's Voice," Greene touted ivermectin's purported effectiveness against COVID-19 and gushed that "it even won a Nobel Peace Prize."

In fact, ivermectin did not win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Rather, scientists William C. Campbell and Satoshi Omura won the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their work showing that ivermectin can be effective in treating against infections caused by roundworm parasites.

www.rawstory.com/...
A
@DoubleD44 since Obama won a Nobel peace prize for doing nothing but inciting future riots, it seemed like a pretty good assumption that a roundworm treatment would achieve the same notoriety.

Funny, ivermectin actually does something useful for society unlike Obama.

Senate votes 61-38 to raise the debt ceiling and avert a global financial crisis.
d
@DoubleD44 It's always a game of "blinksmanship), and in the end they all cave one way or the other and the machine fires up again. This particular time, I would have preferred that the Reps caved completely and handed the $3.5T to the Dems, while insisting that we somehow clean it all up "later" (that was a Tip O'Neill - Ron Reagan tactic).

53% of the people in Iowa now have a favorable view of Donald Trump. His highest favorable rating ever in Iowa.

And, you know what they say, as Iowa goes, so goes the nation.

The democrats must be getting worried. They keep on allowing criminals to stream into the United States from Mexico.

And, you know what they say, as Iowa goes, so goes the nation.

@buyandhold 2012

In 2020 Trump won the state 53.1% to 44.9%. and along with it 6 electoral votes. So I guess that blows that theory out of the water.
@Buyandhold 2012 That's the percentage of the vote he got in Iowa in 2020, which was more than the 51.8% he received in 2016. This poll had him at 47-48% favorable on election night in 2020, so extrapolating based on this new poll, Trump would win 57-58% of the vote in 2024 in Iowa.

Unfortunately in 2020, as Iowa went the nation did not.

He's having a rally Saturday in Des Moines and I suspect the crowd will be one of the biggest yet.

@PIRockford Surely @John Wilson will be there, mingling and screaming with thousand of other maskless anti-vaxxers.

"Senate report details Trump's efforts to use DOJ to overturn election results" www.npr.org/...

An interim report from the Senate Judiciary Committee provides the most detailed look yet at former President Donald Trump's attempts to enlist the Justice Department in his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Department leaders ultimately resisted Trump's pressure, but it took threats of mass resignations across the department to get him to back down.
t
@Pinguino Investments Sadly, this report will make no difference to that nearly 40 million who voted for him. We came perilously close to a Constitutional crisis and those claiming this was all an aberration and all is now well are the same ones who instigated the problems that almost
trashed the Document that they claim to honor.

Why is it that most teachers are so bad at teaching reading, writing and arithmetic?

Before they branch off and start teaching CRT, they should learn how to teach reading, writing and arithmetic.

Our educational system in the United States is a national disgrace.
GreenEggs&Ham profile picture
@Buyandhold 2012 "Why is it that most teachers are so bad at teaching reading, writing and arithmetic?"

Because for what they do and put up with the pay sucks.

Consider they are far more important than the highest paid CEO where the future of our country is concerned.
And parents don't parent anymore, they expect teachers to babysit and parent and teach.

If we paid teachers well we would be able to hire graduates that are the cream of the the crop instead of what is often the dregs.

I should add there are many good teachers out there but many who aren't. The public education system is rife with career bureaucrats
who are a big part of the problem. So are teachers unions because they
are not looking out for the students.

My two oldest went to private schools from start to finish. My youngest
went private and then a magnet only public school for high school.
The public magnet was a "good" school but no comparison to the
private schools our kids attended.

"Consider they are far more important than the highest paid CEO...."

OK, that's pure liberal and parental nonsense, knowledge is the source of all.

Pedigrees have nothing to do with a persons potential or value to society.

US has a whole bureaucracy full of pedigrees that only float in toilets.
GreenEggs&Ham profile picture
@techy46 As someone who has raised 3 successful kids who are now adults, I can tell you who has never had children that what I posted is not liberal anything. It is reality and why China is eating our lunch.

Deadly flash floods hit Alabama as U.N. warns of water crisis sparked by climate change -
Flash flooding across much of Alabama late Wednesday into Thursday has left at least four people dead, stranded motorists and inundated homes and businesses after a weather front stalled out and dumped as much as 13 inches of rain in a single day, the National Weather Service reported.

The latest extreme downpour comes in a year that already has seen scores killed across the U.S. in storms that scientists have concluded have been made worse by climate change.

Can't be easy to live in the state ranked 48th in per capita income, with education and health measures at Third World levels, one of the lowest vaccination rates, and politicians who deny climate change. My heart goes out to the residents there.

Al Gore lives in a huge home, flies endlessly and tells the rest of us it is our fault. Personally I used to drive around 30,000 miles a year. I am now retired. I could scream my carbon foot print is tiny. That would be true. Also, true is the fact that I no longer produce anything of real value.

Politifact Tries Riding to the Rescue After Chuck Grassley Notes Broad Support for Photo ID Election Laws

After Grassley quoted polls showing broad support for the photo ID component of voter ID laws during a Wednesday Senate hearing, Politifact suggested the “polls overlooked nuances in the debate.”

This is a classic example of a respected-among-Democrats fact-checking organization that is quite literally trying to gently massage an inarguably false narrative into a true one because the facts do not back up their claims.

Whenever I see the word "nuances", my bullsh!t antennas go way, way up.

The sitting president of the United States, advised by the nation's top infectious disease specialists, doesn't know what is now common knowledge; that vaccinated individuals can still spread Covid-19.

For those keeping track, this is the second major issue Biden had no knowledge of - the first being an international spat with France over a tri-lateral submarine agreement.
