The GOP "Regression to the Mean" - the meanest of the mean, which started in 1960 with the departure of Eisenhower, has now fallen below any prior level.

This does not indicate that it has run its full course, as we have new evidence every day that there is no bottom to their ignorance, malfeasance and depravity.

The short window that the Congress has to bring the malefactors to justice is closing swiftly, and all efforts must be applied before the deadline is reached.

The Rittenhouse verdict, and the Roe V. Wade conclusion has enflamed the passions on both sides of the issues and guarantees that more people will try to take the law into their own hands.

I understand that the Rittenhouse verdict was something controversial in many people's minds, but not receiving even the punishment for a speeding ticket or tossing a chewing gum wrapper out a window does not seem just to me for the killings that occurred. Is this an outlandish thought?
The repercussions from this are not what people are expecting and will be far worse in gruesome ways that I cannot discuss here. What is not expected is that the future deeds of anger and retribution will be much more evenly distributed among all sides of the contentious factions and not just directed in one direction as they were on Jan. 6, and the Rittenhouse killing site.
There are practical principles of survival that guarantee this.

The Roe V. Wade decision opens up even more avenues for mischief, rack and ruin, and our court system, high and low, will be abused, overloaded, ridiculed and become the laughingstock of the world, as so many of our Institutions have become since 2016.
I fear the worst is not over, and things may get much worse before they get better.
I invite ALL to Help make me totally wrong!

You are "spot on"
Actually the polarization of the political spectrum has its causes in misinformation. There are a number of very academic videos on youtube all under the name of "post truth"
Arguing individual issues is futile, both sides have "dug-in" their positions and only years of education can possible undo the damage.

@danielaqwe Yet even education may not work if opposing sides threaten school boards if teachers stray even slightly beyond what one side or the other deems correct.

You don't seem to believe that Rittenhouse (and you and I) have the right to self defense.

You seem to believe that a ruling by a jury, that goes against your own political point of view, is wrong.

You seem to believe that vigilantism will result because of the Rittenhouse verdict.

You views on Roe v Wade are almost as silly as your views on Rittenhouse.

The decision has not been made, one way or the other, with Roe v Wade and yet, you are already "announcing" to the world that it has and that it will result in America being mocked by the rest of the world.

You obviously have a very defined sense of justice that is skewed to the left. You don't believe in jury verdicts, you see boogiemen with Roe v Wade.

Why would anyone take your comment as something other than completely ignorant of how the American legal system works?

Like listening to someone fart.

I just had an exchange yesterday with a friend of mine who would never vote Biden and voted Trump in 2016 though am not sure about 2020. He is also vaccinated but says those who are not have the right to be stupid. He asked me if I thought only Republicans lied and cheated in the electoral realm as another friend of his said it was mostly Democrats. I told him that if one looked back at Daly's Chicago or at NYC or Kansas City for many years then that would be true and still is to some extent. But I told him that I firmly believe there are autocratic forces at work deep within the GOP now that are every bit as bad because they control state legislatures and are using every legal, though immoral, means to deny votes to blacks and Hispanics. I told him that I honestly felt that there was a genuine threat to our Republic from these forces and that we will see more violence aimed at our institutions and I could not understand why these actions by the GOP and far right eluded him. I suspect his view v mine is what is also reflected on this board and it saddens me as I was raised to respect our institutions. I served in the military and on juries when called to do so and have voted since 1967 every time there was an election (sometimes voting Republican if I thought that best). But now I wonder if it was worth it and if techy might be right about the country being FUBAR. I don't want to believe that but....

@tewright2012 Could it be that the planets align, and tewright2012 and daustin97222 actually agree on something?

- Definitely WAY too much money in politics
- Hyper-partisan tribal warfare gets nothing done.
- Tech is correct: US government is FUBAR

Look at prescription drugs. We as a country, can't even figure out how to lower the prices of prescription drugs to match our Northern Neighbor.
t
@daustin97222 Will miracles never cease :-) I still have some hope for the government if we could get the first two things out of the way or at least reduced in impact but that is such a big IF.....
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Friday struck down a statewide mask mandate.

The state’s high court said Acting State Health Secretary Alison Beam did not have the authority to mandate students wear a mask in school.

The initial lawsuit was filed by a coalition of parents, Republican politicians and school districts.

A full written opinion by the Democrat-majority court will be issued next week.

Former Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows turned over to the House select committee investigating the 6 January Capitol attack a PowerPoint recommending Donald Trump to declare a national security emergency in order to return himself to the presidency.
Capitol attack committee issues new subpoenas to two ex-Trump aides

The fact that Meadows was in possession of a PowerPoint the day before the Capitol attack that detailed ways to stage a coup suggests he was at least aware of efforts by Trump and his allies to stop Joe Biden’s certification from taking place on 6 January.

The PowerPoint, titled “Election Fraud, Foreign Interference & Options for 6 Jan”, made several recommendations for Trump to pursue in order to retain the presidency for a second term on the basis of lies and debunked conspiracies about widespread election fraud.

Details are coming out how Trump tried all kinds threats to anyone that was a voter counter in the election of 2020. A Kenya West publicist went to a voter counter to offer safety for her family if she confessed that Trump won the election. Trump couldn’t use the military to sway the election results because he knew he didn’t have their support. So now we are seeing how close Trump used people to become an authoritarian president without having the votes. Trump’s desperate attempts to win was to spread the BIG LIE to his supporters that truth, integrity and trust in the system was not to be accepted, and that the only truth came from his BIG LIES and all his enablers, the Republican Party and guys like Josh Hawley and Ted Cruze pounding on the table and screaming how corrupt the election system is when in fact they have no proof of election fraud and were supporting a dictator desperate to win the election by over turning an election that was won by Joe Biden by more than 8 million votes. Let this sink in because Trump is reloading his efforts to become president of the US and implant martial law according to DJTrump.

A dangerous man, DJTrump, is in the wing looking to take revenge on his back stabbers and the people that didn’t obey his orders to overturn the 2020 election.

“Manipulation leads to war,” Muratov said. “We are in the middle of a post-truth period. Now, everyone is concerned about their own ideas and not the facts."

“Social scientists have shown that, when even knowing what is the truth and what is a lie, 75 percent of people will consider the lie as truth as they like the lie better. This is happening already. We are at the very bottom of the manipulation of the human mind.”

In her acceptance speech earlier on Friday, Ressa had criticised US tech giants such as Facebook for making a profit by disseminating lies and hate.

Earlier in the week Reuters revealed that top US and Israeli officials were in talks to initiate joint military training exercises that focus on preparations to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities. Defense Minister Benny Gantz has been in Washington this week meeting with Secretary Blinken and others to consider "possible modes of action to ensure the cessation of (Iran's) attempt to enter the nuclear sphere and broaden its activity in the region," according to a prior public statement.

The White House confirmed Thursday that "other options" are on the table should JCPOA nuclear talks in Vienna fail: "The president has asked his team to be prepared in the event that diplomacy fails and we must turn to other options," White House Secretary Jen Psaki said. "We will have no choice but to take additional measures."

On Friday, local Israeli media sources are reporting that the US and Israeli administrations have landed on a one week timetable to see if Vienna negotiations make any progress, after Iran nuclear talks resumed on Thursday. Last week US negotiators said they are still not fully convinced Tehran is "serious" about the talks. Gantz has also reportedly been trying to persuade Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin for both countries to pursue "joint military readiness".

Tel Aviv, meanwhile, has maintained that the Islamic Republic is simply using the Vienna talks to endlessly stall, in order to covertly advance its capability to eventually produce nuclear weapons. Iran has long denied that it's even interested in a nuke, saying its goal is meeting the country's domestic energy needs.

A Biden administration official was cited this week as saying: "We're in this pickle because Iran's nuclear program is advancing to a point beyond which it has any conventional rationale," which echoes Israel's position.

If you think the price of oil is high now, just wait... Russia and China aren't going to sit idly by.

The Black Lives Matter organization has prompted backlash by explicitly calling for a boycott of “white companies” over Christmas.

In a promotional graphic on its website and shared on social media, BLM states “We’re dreaming of a #Blackxmas. That means no spending with white companies from 11/26/2021 – 01/01/2022.”

The organization further stated that the point of the effort is not to “replace white-capitalism with Black-capitalism,” but instead to “shake off the call to rampant consumerism and use our dollars intentionally to build Black community.”

Critics, including other black activist groups, noted that the message being put out by BLM is negative and segregationist and will result in “an unhealthier racial climate.”

Instead of simply promoting a message to buy from black owned businesses, the movement is actively encouraging supporters to boycott other businesses based on the skin color of their owners.

BLM further claims on its website that “white-supremacist-capitalism invented policing, initially as chattel-slavery-era “paddy rollers,” in order to protect its interests and put targets on the backs of Black people,” further claiming that this is still happening now.

BLM’s idea of a happy holiday is when a white-hating black crackhead mows down holiday parade goers.

US sanctions Huawei and other Chinese companies as gov't spnsored?

It should be called the HYPOCRITES ACT?

"(Reuters) - A $52 billion bill aimed at bolstering the U.S. semiconductor industry will include funding for chip design activities, a U.S. commerce department official told Reuters, addressing concerns the funds would mostly support manufacturing.

The CHIPS Act, which passed the Senate as part of a larger package of funding in June, is meant to reverse a longstanding trend in which most chip manufacturing capacity has shifted to Taiwan, Korea and other parts of Asia. Chip industry advocates had hoped the bill would become law this year, though U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said this week the bill could slip to 2022.

Once passed, the next phase will be to carve up the money, an effort likely to be led by the Commerce Department. Intel Corp, the biggest U.S. manufacturer of chips, has lobbied aggressively to position itself for potential funding.
But most of the rest of America's biggest chip firms, such as Qualcomm Inc, Advanced Micro Devices and Nvidia Corp, focus their efforts on design and rely on partners for manufacturing. "

@techy46 Yes, I have posted repeatedly on here, that there is a big security risk we're accepting by allowing bleeding-edge manufacturing (3NM EUV for example) be sponsored in countries that are potentially our enemies. I don't like the trend. Then, consider that ARM technology pulls out miles ahead of X86, and we're in a hole.
