Summary

  • The price of Ripple's XRP token is weighed down by concern due to the SEC's lawsuit alleging the illegal sale of unregistered securities.
  • Despite several small CBDC trials, there's not enough real world documentation of XRP adoption to justify a long-term position.
  • The past year shows a pattern of price spikes with favorable legal news. Investors can buy now and sell when Ripple has settled or won the case.

I definitely appreciate this article as I am bullish on this project as well. I don’t see how it’s not prevalent that Ripple net is looking to position it’s own native token XRP over any other ODL, especially if they lose the case Garlinghouse stated they will move the company to another jurisdiction. The intent behind XRP is not to buy coffee as initial retailers wanted to use XRP, instead it’s intended to be a high value remittance coin to service high volume transactions. To know Ripplenet you have to know XRP was built for its intended use. If not, why fight this case at all and defend XRP when the company could have just used another technology? Intended use case. Bullish for long term hold.

Interesting article and very informative.

The author suggests playing this as a one-and-done settlement/court win trade. The author then recommends getting in through Uphold since Coinbase and the like will be caught flatfooted and will take time to relist XRP. This implies that the XRP price recovery will go through at least two stages as the late comers will flood in as other exchanges relist.

With that in mind, why not sell half on the news and hold the other half as the latecomers buy through Coinbase, etc. re-listings.

@labradoodle Interesting idea. But the timing and magnitude of these subsequent pumps are unclear. IMO the biggest spike will be right after the news, with the Asian exchanges leading the way. But good idea to look for a secondary price surge upon relisting, especially if one has missed the first.

Is it even possible to sell XRP in the US? My exchange is holding my holdings hostage, not even bothering to count the dollar amount towards the sum total of my meager portfolio there. Long ago, I speculated on a tiny amount, which grew into a less tiny amount, but not quite life-changing. However, it seems I can't do anything with it at this point.

@Paul T. Lambert Coinbase still gives access to the XRP wallet for deposits and transfers. Does your exchange allow that? Uphold is one of the few that serves US customers and lists XRP. You'd need to open an account and transfer the XRP to Uphold.
k
@Paul T. Lambert I can buy and sell on Uphold. I would suggest you move your XRP assets to the Uphold exchange, way better and simple to use.

Can you please comment on the attached article that discusses the increased use of Ripple / XRP ODK

@princey0 I meant ODL

@princey0 The article conflates RippleNet and ODL, a common issue. Does the NAB/Israel/Canada proof of concept use ODL? Maybe, but the PR does not directly say that. Also PoC is one thing but will they actually implement ODL into production? Also unknown.
The quote from RippleNet General Manager Asheesh Birla is carefully worded to combine the total volume on RippleNet with ODL statements, which IMO adds to investor confusion. Here's the actual quote from the Ripple PR:

"Asheesh says RippleNet ended the year with a payment volume run rate of over $10B and expanded our On-Demand Liquidity (ODL) product to 22 destination markets, observing that this milestone brings ODL near to complete global coverage."
My take is that he's talking about two different things, total volume on RippleNet, AND (not through) expanding the potential market for ODL. For me the key question is how much of RippleNet's volume in 2021 was from ODL? I think this number would be telling, but haven't seen it published. If I interviewed Ripple execs, this is the first question I'd ask.

@princey0 you can actually look it up yourself on the ripple website and XRP ledger
lawsuit on xrp 🪤. top 3 coin for sure. ✅
C
For sure $8-$17 after the lawsuit/settlement. Such an opportunity to make money with XRP.

@CaptinRon Curious as to how you calculate that target range. Can you share your thinking?
