I like the ALCO insider ownership. "Skin in the game" is a plus for me.

@BOOX Research The story behind Alico stock is compelling, however there is one significant issue hanging out there, and that is the risk of disease.
"The disease is called huanglongbing or HLB — more commonly known as citrus greening. It has decimated groves in Asia, Brazil, the Dominican Republic and Florida, and is now spreading in California."
How do you think HLB could affect Alico stock? A month ago while driving in mid-Florida and noticed quite a bit of dead orange trees. This is just a tiny perspective, but it did turn me away from a possible investment.

So good, but no position? Don't blame ya, no options and at multiyear high. What's going on with poor free cash flow, is that why the land sales? What are they paying on that debt and what are the plans to manage it as rates start to rise? Wish these articles came out when priced about $15 lower. Although, I prefer option chains for hedging, additional income, reducing cost basis and acquiring at lower price.

@Here2Learn&Earn Selling off ranchland for development or for conservation (if paid a premium to market) and investing the $ in their area of competence - more citrus land - should work out.

Thanks for the writeup...I've looked at ALCO before but had no idea how I'd evaluate it since it didn't really have any close peers, so I let it go. Too bad; that was 25% ago. Might take another nibble soon and build slowly.
