Summary

  • The stock market has been more volatile than ever since the pandemic of 2020. What does that mean?
  • On the road to financial freedom, acquiring assets that produce cash flow or income is the goal.
  • Given the uncertainty, I continue to make smaller, weekly investments into Vanguard Exchange Traded Funds.
  • Diageo, since it sells and distributes alcoholic beverages, tends to fare better during recessionary and inflationary time periods.
  • Intel took a big hit after earnings – time to buy or time to stay away?

I've become a bit wary of ADR's recently. I get charged a fee on ADR dividends and then foreign dividend tax by Merrill in my 401k which takes a significant bite out of a 2.5% yield. I got tired of fighting with them and sold my position in Enbridge and (back in the day) Potash, now Nutrien. I use ETF's now for overseas exposure.
I sold half of my Intel at $60 in Jan 2020 because I was getting tired of the swings in valuation. Now it makes me look like a genius (I'm not). I hope they can turn this company around

I’ve noticed the same with mine at Merrill too!

@tim85 I don't think we should have tax withheld. We have a tax treaty with Canada. I still have some EMB in my wife's Merrill Edge account, and the tax is not withheld.
