Great call on how the blow up could play out. Probably the only article on SA to highlight that regulatory capital has been effectively wiped out. Much respect!

Your core analysis appears to be very compelling along with your in-depth research done so can you tell me what is it about hedge fund/ mutual fund managers of ETF's etc and bankers including Powell, that cannot connect the dots at all, were you and a few others the only people aware of the predicament that SVB was facing and the others just waiting around or were they calculating their short positions waiting for a motherlode to fall from the sky??? or just the shit to hit the fan and blame it on deposit holders running for cover via electronic transactions in split seconds-who are these people and how do they actually think or not think- more like they lack proper critical thinking skills like most politicians running the country into the ground, instead of protecting the bank and creating a moat of safety they cut the lifelines to watch her sink!!! In my opinion this is disgusting and totally irresponsible -how can US Banking regulators allow banks to not hold at least 75 % of their market value in some form of solid currency - cash backed up by gold, other countries back up their currency with gold like India, China, Russia so what's with the US and its banking failures, isn't about time they all wake up- take the bull by the horns and stop this kind of economic draining of investment dollars whether for future needs or on time needs- the failure of a giant bank that helped out small tech start-ups and bio tech firms to get a leg up has now imploded with fear spreading like a virus throughout the investment community and panicky investors selling off. What the hell else is coming down the pipe and how are people to survive this style of modern day financial war. Eg. Rope Spinner its a good read.

great call! respect.

Great call on SVB. Very well documented report that highlighted the risk. This is living proof how sell side analyst that have better access to mgmt. teams just missed it. Great call CFH!!!! If I read the comment's correctly you come from the Buyside correct? (after leaving the buyside spent many years in the HF space)

Another shout out to HFs !! Great call

Timely call on this one! Although it seems the author was more concerned with the loan portfolio going bust first...it looks like it was actually their investment HTM portfolio and low deposit base that did them in first!
b
@DeparturePast no the author mentions the HTM book quite clearly...no one else did, no regulator, rating agency etc.
N
@DeparturePast "As of the end of Q3, the company had $27 billion of AFS (available for sale) securities and $65 billion of HTM (hold to maturity) securities. These securities are primarily (close to 80%) agency RMBS and CMBS mortgages. Given the bulk of this portfolio was acquired in a lower interest rate environment, there are unrealized losses, $17 billion in the HTM portfolio alone.
b
Respect !!!

Good Analysis & conclusion!

$800 to $0 in less than 2 years. 21% of loans in tech start-ups??? Thanks for the call.

One can only assume that Cathie Wood had a stake!

Congrats and Nice job but is this a Doug Williams moment? Graveyards filled with one hit wonders.

Respect ✊ for going against the grain and publishing this back in December!

As someone else said, how have they not gotten you on TV? If(when) they do, let us know when they air it. Would love to watch it!
O
@DivInvest0r if you like this call you should go look at his coverage of $GSM.
T
@DivInvest0r He nailed it exactly! But he won’t be anywhere near TV because nowhere in the article did he use the name Trump. You see, the media narrative is that it is Trump’s fault. Right now, CNBC is running as fast and as far away as they can from CashFlowHunter. So, no, they will not be calling him.

Very impressive.

Got an email highlighting the call. But I also saw that you wrote a "strong buy" article the next day on Signature Bank, ie the other bank that just collapsed.

@stuman1234 yes. I had paired it originally. Contagion very much changed the facts on the ground for ALL regional banks very quickly. Very surprised about SBNY getting shut right when the feds changed liquidity availability but also wouldn't have called SCHW getting tagged either. At least people had 2 days to bail on anything they had in regionals.
c
@CashFlow Hunter Do you think it was the amount of withdrawals on Friday that caused them to be shutdown or something they were hiding from the public? I know at this time we can't know for sure. Is there a chance we might get something per common share? I sold half of my position on Thursday but never thought they would be shutdown.
CashFlow Hunter profile picture
@chrisnoll1 absolutely impossible to know unfortunately. All bets were off after SIVB failed to print an equity raise. Think of how crazy it is that SCHW is down 40-45% on this. They are definitively too big to fall.
M
You legend!

Congrats!

Brilliant analysis and prediction, Cashflow Hunter. I'm impressed.

Any thoughts on HSBC's acquisition of SBVUK? I'm a holder of HSBC.
CashFlow Hunter profile picture
@Funcle Matt thank you. No view on HSBC.
c
Great job on SIVB but what about SBNY?
IBottheDip profile picture
Nice catch, did you know about the MBS’s? Who’s next?
CashFlow Hunter profile picture
@IBottheDip thank you. Impossible to tell right now. ALLY is a little scary.
