I am a private investor with a broad portfolio diversified across sector and size. Most of my writing, and much of the speculative portion of my portfolio, focuses on small and mid-cap companies in the healthcare and biotechnology sector. This sector provides the opportunity for outsize rewards, though one must be willing to accept significant risk. My background has exposure to healthcare investing and involvement with operating companies, which I believe provides me with a unique perspective. Currently I am an Associate for Finance and Business development at a clinical stage oncology company called Oncoceutics. Previously I was an Analyst at Osage University Partners, a venture capital firm focused on investing in companies developing technologies licensed from universities across a broad spectrum of opportunities including life sciences, information technology, cleantech, hardware and advanced materials. Prior to that, I worked for a grant program directed at life science technology commercialization at the University City Science Center. I also have worked at BlackRock Asset Management in an operations role with the money market and municipal bond fund groups. I have a B.S. in Finance and Entrepreneurship with a minor in Biological Sciences from Drexel University, and hold the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
I have been investing privately for ten years. I look to take concentrated positions in stocks with asymmetrical risk/reward profiles. Turn around situations, companies on the verge of significant revenue / EPS growth, and stocks that unjustly sell below their NCAV are all very interesting to me. I find that most of these finds come in small caps, due to their lack of coverage. However I am not averse to taking a position in a large company which I think fits one of my criteria.

I'm putting my thoughts out on SeekingAlpha as a public journal to keep track of my progress over time with respect to my understanding of investing. I started out with DCF and value framework, but quickly found that I was bored of it, so I dabbled in technical analysis. I was surprised to see how effective technical analysis has been on the short and medium timeframe so it's become a key part of my framework. What keeps me interested in investing now is global macro trends, so I combine that with technicals to form any new thesis now.
I'm a stock trader, a medical scientist and an MBA graduate. I have an excellent skill in the fundamental analysis of the financial market due to my business background. However, I also work as a full-time medical professional and trade in the market during my spare time. I do also have an excellent research writing skill. However, I don't believe in writing papers for students to turn in as their own which I profoundly believe is an unethical practice. Nevertheless, I will be more than happy to provide directions for someone to succeed in writing their research paper such as thesis formulation, development of hypothesis and so forth.
