A junior finance major at Fordham University, in New York, New York; Mukund Multani has a unique perspective on the world of finance and economics thanks to his diverse background and broad interests. Mukund grew up in Bombay, India where he was exposed first-hand to the vagaries of an emerging economy. His observations are colored by his experience from within one of the world’s fastest growing economies and enhanced by his time in New York City. During his time in India, Mukund spent many of his summers in the rural north, where he taught English and computer skills at a secondary school. He currently works in the private wealth management division of Wachovia Securities, where he supports the client portfolio management team. Mukund has also worked closely with the corporate finance team of a major fund of hedge funds in New York, where he developed crucial analytical analysis; the results of which were regularly presented to the company’s CEO, CFO and other senior management personnel. In addition to varied membership in a long list of academic and professional societies, Mukund is the chairman of member relations for Fordham’s Finance Society, and is the co-editor of Fordham’s College of Business student newsletter. Mukund plans to appear for the first level of the CFA in December 2009. On completing his undergraduate studies in May 2010, he plans to continue his work in the financial industry, eventually obtaining his MBA. In due course, he hopes to enter the venture capital/private equity or business consulting industry.
