I am a travel nurse. I am informed I may have to take a permanent position if the Obama health care bill is not reversed as I am counted in the full time even though I work for various travel companies and they would not be able to sustain the financial burden and will fold. I am long on gold bullion, have bonds in 401k cash in IRA and want to invest in gold and oil through the IRA and do not know enough how to do it, I may have to convert the IRA in to a broker account. I did better on my own than putting money into guaranteed annuity for 8%Please advise. God Bless You.
Personal investor. I started investing in clean energy stocks, mostly Chinese companies, in September 2011 which was after they had generally dropped 50-75% in value. I was purchasing CSIQ, DQ, JKS, MY, and YGE at what was close to their 52 week low price, but the only problem was they continued to drop another 15-20% in price before the end of 3Q2011. Fortunately, October 2011 has been a rebound month, and overall, I have gained back most of those losses (CSIQ and DQ are yet to recover). Now, with the European Sovereign Debt Crises in a temporary holding pattern, I am waiting for the 3rd quarter earnings reports for these companies. If the reports are good, then I think these stocks will do well. Another watch point for these stocks will be the attempt to apply trade tariffs on sales of their products in USA. If the tariffs do not happen, that will be good news. But even if the tariffs do happen, I think these companies will continue to grow and be profitable from their sales within China (which apparently is very committed to clean, renewable energy) as well as around the world. Other stocks of interest to me: ASYS and MNTA for a bit of diversification.
I live in Albuquerque NM. Am retired from the US Army (USAM- Class of 1966). Currently work for a Govt Agency- at a large call center here. I used to trade FREX, but found that the prospect of losing everything was such that I have returned to investing in stocks. Focus on some long term holdings- small cap resource and energy stocks. Like to also buy those with prospects of a 15% appreciation in 4-6 weeks. Sometimes have to hold lojnger, but that is OK. Some nice ones seem to always be "obn the table"... Patrick
Just a small time private investor that is currently investing in oil & gas related energy names. Both from Canada and the US. Since I cannot generate enough in dividends from Canadian producers anymore, and now that I am retired, I'm having to invest much more in the Permian in order to find any names worth owning for growth. Subscribing member to HFI Research, and The Upstream Oil Hub, and enjoying what we get to learn there. (updated on 6/29/2017)

"The illusion [....] will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater."

During the 1994 Peso crisis, I started an e-mail newsletter. This followed from my comments to Mexican interest groups and list servers on the rapidly expanding Internet. The newsletter became a copyright publication : "The Mexican Commentary." This had a limited paid subscriber base but has been discontinued.
Robert Rubin was criticized for the Mexican bailout from the U.S. Treasury but I commented that the US taxpayer benefited greatly - at that time borrowing with T-bills at 5% and lending it to the Mexicans at 10%. The Mexican economy was expected to collapse but I continued to follow the economic developments in my newsletter covering employment, interest rates, exchange rate of the peso and stock prices. This led to one of my subscribers hiring me full time at the US Department of Justice/Immigration and Naturalization Service/HQ Office of Intelligence. My comments then became restricted to an internal Government publication "Borderline."
My prior career was devoted to Agricultural Statistics 18 years with the USDA and 6 years with the EPA in the Office of Pesticide Programs.
I have since retired from Federal Government service in 2005 and currently take on consulting assignments and manage my family investment portfolios. I continue to have an interest in Mexican stocks.
I do not offer any investment advice but feel that this forum would benefit from the wealth of information that I could offer. This should not be considered investment recommendations of a personal bases because most of my readers remain anonymous to me.
I often say what I am doing in the market for my own trades - these are true and honest statements and my records are open for inspection to any responsible party on request.
I am a corporate, M&A, securities and private equity attorney (11 years of practice) in Philadelphia with a far greater passion for investing and finance that I've been developing since I was 16. I am working on shifting my career focus to align it with my passion.
