I am an activist investor in US and Chinese stocks. I was previously an investment banker in New York Hong Kong and London for 9 years, focused on Equity Capital Markets. I look at both long ideas and short ideas and typically focus on a small number on names where I can spend the time to conduct very deep research. I spend my time living between Los Angeles and Beijing, China.
Founded by Nate Anderson, CFA, CAIA, Hindenburg Investment Research specializes in forensic research and activist short-selling. Our experience in the investment management industry spans over a decade, with a historical focus on buy side equity, credit, and derivatives analysis.
While we use fundamental analysis to aid our investment decision-making, we believe the best edge can be had by uncovering hard-to-find information from atypical sources. In particular we look for situations where companies may have any combination of (i) accounting irregularities (ii) bad actors in management or key service provider roles (iii) undisclosed related-party transactions (iv) or illegal/unethical business or financial reporting practices.

I invest with passion and conviction, and I have the strength to stick with an investment until my thesis plays out, hence "Courage & Conviction Investing." My greatest gift is a rare ability to synthesize public information on a stock to formulate conclusions the market hasn't even considered. I share this unique skill with subscribers to my Marketplace service, Market Adventures. High-conviction investing isn't for everyone, but if you're in the market to make serious money and you have an insatiable appetite for risk, and you're willing to wait patiently for potentially big gains, then Market Adventures might be the right fit for you.
“When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds: Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.” (Author - Patanjali)
“Tentative efforts lead to tentative outcomes. Therefore, give yourself fully to your endeavors. Decide to construct your character through excellent actions and determine to pay the price of a worthy goal. The trials you encounter will introduce you to your strengths. Remain steadfast...and one day you will build something that endures: something worthy of your potential.” (Author - Epictetus)
"Hope sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible." (Author - Unknown)
"When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me." (Author - Erma Bombeck)

I am a former financial communications programmer, turned full-time investor. I began investing in the mid-1990s, looking for a way to achieve early retirement. (A goal in which I have succeeded, if you don't consider full-time investing a job.) I took a scientific, experiment-based approach rather than a studious one. I feel that this approach, combined with my extensive programming work in financial markets and directly with traders has given me uncommon contrarian insight into what really drives market dynamics.
To that end, my articles will center around stocks and their derivatives because that's where I have the most experience (over 20 years). I may occasionally comment on currencies, where I believe I have sound academic knowledge, but less trading experience. I will always refer to a company by name or some abbreviation thereof. By contrast, I will refer to the stock a company issues by its ticker symbol. I think it can be important to differentiate between the two.

I am Seeking Alpha's CEO and Editor-in-Chief. My love for the stock markets goes back to when I was a kid. Who else remembers combing through the stock quotes at the back of the business section of your local paper?
I joined Seeking Alpha in 2006 and launched Wall Street Breakfast and Market Currents, our top-of-class short-form breaking news for investors. In 2010 I became editor-in-chief and in 2015 I became CEO.
I live in Jerusalem with my wife and a bunch of exceptional kids. Most days, you'll find me making the commute from Jerusalem to Raanana. Occasionally I get to work from my home-office, from where I keep an eye on the beautiful Judean Hills.

I have been investing in the stock market as a personal investor for about 15 years now. I began my training in an accelerated pre-med program, and have continued both my interest and research in related topics. I invest in companies only after very lengthy deliberation, although am apt to leave the market entirely for periods of time. My advice is yours to take at your own risk.

Investment professional with over ten years of Wall Street experience. I began my career in investment banking at Merrill Lynch. Following my time at Merrill, I worked for approximately seven years in private equity. Currently, I manage money for both qualified and non-qualified clients. I would classify myself as a long/short investor with a value-based approach.
I am a private investor based out of Toronto, Canada and I have been investing since 2003. After 8 years in Corporate Finance with a Canadian Telecom company I have decided to dedicate myself full-time to the capital markets. I write on Seeking Alpha to demonstrate my financial analysis and writing skills across a variety of industries and to take advantage of any story-based trading opportunity that may arise. My passion and greatest depth of knowledge is on Canadian small cap stocks and I consider my blog posts to be some of my best work. I am interested in any freelance opportunities that may arise outside of Seeking Alpha on Canadian or American listed stocks.

I am interested in researching and writing unique articles that combine politics and finance. With a background in Political Science and Economics, I often look at the impact regulations have on the bottom line. I generally take a short perspective when looking at companies.
Too many companies get away with lying to investors and the public. I hope that my articles can shine some light on the misstatements made by various management teams and add to improved corporate governance in this country.

I'm a trader/analyst interested in doing deep analysis. I spend many hours thoroughly conducting due diligence on investment ideas to make sure they are sound before I present them.
I decided to write for Seeking Alpha and present investing ideas to develop a track record, make sure my own ideas are sound, and to teach and help the markets. I often get ideas and help with my articles from other analysts in the industry, that may know more about a sector than I do.
