I am a long-horizon value investor on the lookout for simple, hard-to-kill businesses with strong and shareholder-friendly management and predictable catalysts. I focus on smaller stocks that are not widely discussed. I came to appreciate over time how developing a thorough understanding of a business can reveal Mr. Market's mistakes. Now, I have a sense for what those mistakes tend to arise from. I am an Assistant Professor of Finance at Rice University. I earned a degree in economics with high honors from Harvard University, an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a PhD in finance from Chicago Booth. I also worked 2 years as an analyst at Peter J. Solomon - an Mergers and Acquisitions investment bank in New York City.
