Value investor running a long-only partnership/SMAs, as well as a Marketplace subscription for objective buyside research. Pseudonymous to protect my IR access but I’m always up for a conversation with anyone interested in value investing or mental models. I also collaborate with a few well-known hedge fund managers and am open to swapping notes if we're looking at similar names. My Marketplace subscription service, called “Outsourced Analyst,” provides small-to-mid-sized funds, family offices, or high-net-worth investors the workflow of an analyst for a hundredth of the price. I write objective coverage of high-quality, underfollowed small-caps that I'm working on / following. Subscribers also have access to writeups of some of my best ideas like those I've posted on LQDT, CRAI, FC, LGIH, BOOM, CSWI, and so on. Membership will be limited to the first 250 subscribers. Seeking Alpha T&C requires me to disclose that I'm a registered investment advisor; regulations require me to reiterate that nothing I say is investment advice - it's just my Monday-morning-quarterback opinion for your entertainment and amusement. Always do your own due diligence, consider your own financial position, and please consult your preferred financial professional before making any investment decision.

I'm a value investor and investment manager at a family office. I spend most of my time doing primary research on high-quality businesses with extraordinary economics that we can buy and hold for at least an entire market cycle. I also help conduct due diligence on third party money managers that make up a major part of the FO's portfolio.
Private Investor interested in disruptive markets (e.g. Solar, LED, Laser, 3D, unconventional Oil&Gas,...).
Very bad at market timing. Reasonably good at fundamental research.
Investing is profession & intellectual fun.

In a market flooded with data and opinion, we deliver clarity.

I am a ‘deep value’ investor/analyst mainly focused on the US small-cap and micro-cap universe. I started out with a long-only bias (stocks trading close to NCAV etc.) which led to my interest in the OTC world. I now cover this space through my exclusive newsletter service where I share my latest long ideas and a watchlist of OTC stocks which should help subscribers generate material returns and allow them to ‘monitor’ the space more efficiently. The service also acts a community of engaged members who share the same focus. On top of this, I am interested in short-focused research especially in thesis revolving around accountancy or earnings manipulation.
I am portfolio manager of a hedge fund that seeks to achieve capital appreciation by taking advantage of undervalued investment opportunities in: i) value equities, ii) growth equities, iii) event-driven securities and iv) by engaging in short sales. We employ a thematic top-down overlay in determining portfolio construction and in idea generation, combined with rigorous fundamental analysis.
Previously, I worked as a senior equity research analyst at a successful hedge fund, employing a similar investment strategy, for over 12 years. I began my career as an investment banker at DLJ and graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Private investor searching for inefficiencies caused by institutional constraints. I focus on protecting the downside and identifying mispriced optionality. I like strong balance sheets with a catalyst and/or high ROIC businesses I can understand. Market cap agnostic, but I usually find the most interesting opportunities in microcaps.

I retired early a few years ago. I was the Credit Manager for a mid-sized publicly traded bank. Despite never working in the industry, I also took and passed the CFA Level 1 exam, despite never working in the industry. I traditionally have invested in and written about small and micro cap value stocks. I have found as an investor you can get an edge in researching and talking to management of small and micro cap companies that have little or no analyst coverage. About 25-50% of my portfolio are deep value stocks, primarily microcaps. That is historically where I have had the best returns.
Laughing Water Capital is a concentrated, long biased investment partnership open to accredited investors. We focus on owning pieces of businesses that are suffering from temporary problems or that are misunderstood by the market due to the vagaries of GAAP accounting or some sort of structural impediment. We consider our portfolio companies to be our partners, and we look for our management teams to have significant equity ownership in our companies. Properly incentivized, we expect our management teams to guide the company past their problems, at which point we will benefit from operational improvement and multiple expansion. Patience is essential.
I am a Danish investor who enjoys to share my views on companies with others. My primary interests within the economic area are stock picking and investment theory. Furthermore I am a classic value investor.
I do not believe in market timing nor do I believe in any kind of chart analysis. I believe that owning great businesses at cheap prices during thick and thin will give you the best risk adjusted returns while sleeping well at night.
I am strongly influenced by theory and literature from numerous investors such as Buffett, Lynch, Greenblatt etc. I hold a MSc. in business economics from Denmark but the literature from various investors through time is worth more to me than anything I have and will ever read during my studies.
Founded in 2008, we are the general partner of two private investment vehicles (closed to new investors) with a total of $83 million in assets under management.
