I have been investing in mutual funds for a long time and picked up investing in individual stocks a few years ago. For me it seemed like I never knew what to purchase, I went with companies I knew or read about. While the returns I received have been good, it was also during a time where the market was going up significantly. I felt that there had to be more to picking stocks than that, more that I could feel comfortable that I was "getting in" at a good price and a good value. I was tired of riding the market, whichever way it wanted to go. I have been a fan of Warren Buffet for a while so I looked deeper into how he does so well and discovered true value investing. Value investing has tangible numbers behind it, not just picking a stock because it seemed like a good company or an article was written on how much upside a stock has. I have a finance degree and an MBA and value investing utilizes some of the same formulas and calculations that I had learned so long ago. I read as much as I can, listened to podcasts, learned everything I could. This is my journey through value investing, come along with me.
