Dell (DELL-OLD -1.6%) wants to generate $5B in annual software sales, says software chief John Swainson. That's well above the ~$2B in software sales Dell currently has (assuming one includes Quest Software), and speaks of the company's obsession with reducing its exposure to a weak PC business.
