Intuitive Surgical (ISRG -2.7%) takes a hit on comments posted by American Congress of OB/GYN president James T. Breeden, MD, saying that he doesn't see robotic surgery as the most cost-efficient procedure for hysterectomies, and that expensive technology for routine surgical care does not improve patient outcomes. Consequently, there is no good data proving that robotic hysterectomy is even as good as — let alone better— than existing, and far less costly, minimally invasive alternatives.
