Hat tip to Felix Salmon who draws our attention to the news thatPortfolio.com has reemerged from Conde Nast purgatory by shifting ownership to American City Business Journals Inc.’s bizjournals, another division of Advance Publications.
In its new form, the site will:
In addition to newly created content, Portfolio.com will share content with other Condé Nast sites such as Wired.com, GolfDigest.com, and WWD.com, as it did before. It also will be the home of the archives of content published by Portfolio’s print and digital properties over the past 24 months.
Portfolio.com will emerge with a greater focus on industry verticals, something I find quite interesting. Other sites do cover a variety of industries with vertical focus for business people but few have done it well for investors.
Seeking Alpha used to take a more industry-led focus, but has moved away from that in more recent months (although stocks are still classified and tagged by industries). Wikinvest has helped investors greatly with their more useful classifications of stocks by industry and even better data sets and ratios on a per industry basis.
