The bulk of the severe weather is over now. There will be areas of flooding from the Piedmont to southern New England today, too.
Here are some weather notes for April 30.
- There is a high risk of wildfire over southwest California, extreme southern California and southwest Arizona today through Thursday. Winds will gust to 60 mph and temperatures will warm into the 90s, so there is a potential of fast moving fires.
- El Nino appeared on schedule in the April 28 data as an area 2 degrees Celsius warmer than normal sea surface temperatures between Galapagos, northern Peru and Ecuador. The water that's 5C above normal is still lurking below the surface.
- A hard freeze will hit Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, and the Baltic States Sunday and Monday. Wheat will be damaged by yet another freeze.
