On 15-Dec-11, Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM) announced that it had entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Rypple for an undisclosed sum. This transaction will be at least the 15th acquisition CRM has made since Aug-08. It stands out that a company having essentially no significant acquisition activity appears to have gone on an acquisition spree of over a dozen transactions.
Since Aug-08, the company has completed at least 14 acquisitions for $911 million. At least 13 of these occurred in the period spanning FY10 through 9M12 and represented $879 million of the consideration spent. Prior to Aug-08, CRM had not made any acquisitions since Apr-06.
Here is CRM's press release on the Rypple acquisition.
