Note: I sort transactions into two categories. If I buy something with the idea that I might hold it forever, I consider than an "investment." If I buy something with the expectation of selling it within the next year, I consider it a "trade." I may use different language in the future as my thinking evolves, but for now, that's how I approach this portfolio.

Transactions this week:

  • Investments:

    • Buys: CSCO, CVS, INTC

    • Sells: GWPH, OGRMF, TWMJF (partial)

    • Other: monthly purchase of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (NYSE:ETH) processed this week. Need to decide how to account for that, as it represents net cash inflow to portfolio of $20.30 per month.

  • Trades:

    • Buys: KSHB, TRTC, TWTR

    • Sells: none.

Comments:

  • Reduced exposure to Canadian cannabis bubble. Timing was good but not perfect. Happy with GWPH sale (129.10), less so with TWMJF (9.06) and OGRMF (2.05); annoyed by expensive commissions in TD account; but all things considered, I am pleased to have the cash in hand.

  • Now I have even more cash dragging on returns, and it's starting to burn a hole in my pocket. Need to be careful not to get too trigger happy with the buy button. I don't want to stretch myself too thin by buying small stakes in too many companies. Can prevent that by establishing relatively concentrated positions in a few stocks (and/or ETFs) that do not require constant vigilance. Or I can simply be patient.

  • Dipping my toes into the "American marijuana penny stock" waters for the first time with KSHB and TRTC (plus a few others on watchlist). Must proceed with utmost caution, and always have alerts or standing orders on both sides of every trade.

  • Looking back, pleased with decision to sell AAPL, BAC, and BX. But, I liked those investments, and will buy them back when the price is right.

  • Other stocks I'm watching (partial list): BUD, COST, KO, MSFT, PRMCF, THCBF, and anything Trump tweets about.

Thanks for reading. I welcome your comments and questions. Please feel free to reach out via SA or Twitter @Woolsac_Fund. Happy weekend.
