Summary

  • Another strong year for my models.
  • 6 out of 7 beat the market.
  • Smart Money made 57.2%.
  • My SeekingAlpha Top 7 gained 38.3%.

I have 7 model portfolios that I use with clients and subscribers. One is free - the Zen Top Ten - and the rest are available to my newsletter subscribers.

The table below shows the final results for each model in 2017. Smart Money was the big winner, with Quality and Sector Rotation not far behind.

Batting cleanup was my Zen Top Ten. I didn't plan that. The Top Ten is unique. It shows my best picks for the coming year, and I don't make any changes. This appeals to buy & hold types, but not to traders.

The other 6 models are rebalanced every 4 weeks.

2017 performance scorecard

In case you're wondering, these are actual returns captured by real clients. No back-testing, no cherry-picking, no spin of any kind.

Good hunting to all in 2018.
