The news came out last night that Bezos' Amazon is testing delivery via drone. While this is completely speculatory in nature, could this be the reason for Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) testing GlobalStar's (NASDAQ:GSAT) network earlier this year?
I think that, from a logical perspective, this makes sense and
GlobalStar has under-utilized broadband and, from an acquisitions perspective, GSAT is an ideal asset for the company to acquire as it's cheap and would fold nicely into Amazon with GSAT broadband dually purposed to bolster the Kindle platform.
Not to mention that the FCC has recently approved GSAT's petition for a rule change to use it's broadband for "widening the WIFI highway".
Time will tell if GSAT will play the role of connectivity backbone for delivery drones...
Disclosure: I am long GSAT.
