Jamba Juice Inc. (JMBA) to Streamline Distribution to Midwest and Southeast United States

|Includes: Jamba, Inc. (JMBA)

Jamba Inc. is a holding company which through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Jamba Juice Company, owns and franchises JAMBA JUICE stores. Jamba Juice is a leading restaurant retailer of better-for-you food and beverage offerings, including great tasting fruit smoothies, juices, teas, hot oatmeal, salads, sandwiches and other items.

The company announced today that it has plans to form a supply chain distribution alliance with SYGMA, a national food service distribution company owned by Sysco (NYSE: SYY). The proposed alliance will enable Jamba to consolidate distribution channels and achieve greater efficiencies in their supply chain as well as position the company for faster expansion of services into existing and new geographic locations.

SYGMA has a robust reporting system to enable faster processing and management of orders. Their relationship with Sysco also provides them access to highly efficient freight and logistics technology. In anticipation of the alliance, SYGMA has already started servicing Jamba’s 53 Midwest locations and has plans to begin service to the company’s 27 Southeast locations in late February.

Jamba is constantly looking for ways to reduce costs and improve its overall service while focusing on quality improvement. It believes this alliance is a perfect way to achieve those goals. Senior supply chain vice-president, Greg Schwartz, said, “Due to SYGMA’s strong national distribution network, particularly to non-traditional outlets such as airports, universities, and malls, we expect that our alliance will not only help us achieve those goals, but also positions is well to drive additional growth.”
