USA Technologies, Inc. (USAT) Partners with Verizon Wireless

Seeking Alpha Analyst Since 2008
USA Technologies, a leader in wireless, small-ticket cashless transaction processing, will be collaborating with Verizon Wireless to combine USA’s ePort® Connect system for vending machines with Verizon’s connectivity network that allows wireless point-of-sale payments at vending machines via credit and debit cards.
USA’s ePort card reading system allows vendors to transform their cash-only vending machines to accept card payments. When linked to ePort Connect, vendors can access sales data remotely from any Internet connected PC. ePort Connect currently supports over 100,000 M2M (machine-to-machine) connections, providing small-ticket, wireless cashless transaction services to a wide range of businesses and transaction environments, including kiosks, hospitality, digital imaging, and the vending machine industry. USA Technologies has 79 patents, as well as agreements with Visa, Compass, and others.
The alignment with Verizon links them with a widely accepted and trusted wireless service provider, enhancing reliability for their customers, and also promoting sales by making the ePort Connect cashless payments service part of the Verizon sales toolkit.
USA Technologies President and COO, Stephen Herbert, commented on the agreement. “Our association with Verizon Wireless aligns us with a powerful leading global brand in the wireless communications industry,” adding that the agreement “represents an important milestone for USA Technologies as consumers continue to adapt to using credit or debit cards for small-ticket, wireless point-of-sale transactions.”
Verizon Wireless Regional President, Mario Turco, said, “USA Technologies is a proven leader in the cashless payment technology space so it made perfect sense that they align themselves with a wireless service provider with unmatched reliability to help power that technology. We look forward to working with them to offer a cost-effective, turnkey solution to B2B customers looking to improve efficiencies and grow sales by leveraging M2M applications that capitalize on the rapidly expanding market for non-cash payment services.”
