Viking Systems, Inc. is a leading global developer, manufacturer and marketer of 3D and 2D visualization solutions for complex, yet minimally invasive surgeries. The company markets and sells the only stand-alone, FDA-cleared, cost effective 3D system for use in minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery.

The company today announced that it expects to report a sales increase of over 60% for the quarter ended September 30, 2011. Sales are anticipated to be in the range of $3 million, compared with $1.8 million in revenue reported in the third quarter of last year. Sales for the nine months ended September 30, 2011 are expected to be about $8.6 million, an increase of over 50% when compared to the $5.6 million reported in same period in 2010.

During the third quarter, Viking sold fourteen of its recently released 3DHD vision systems. Seven were sold to actual customers and the other seven were sold to distributors as demonstration systems. The company also reported that since product launch it had shipped a cumulative total of 66 3DHD systems.

The president and CEO of Viking Systems, Jed Kennedy, said, “We made great progress in promoting Viking’s 3DHD Vision System this summer [a traditionally slow period]. Typically, the fourth quarter is the strongest quarter for hospital capital equipment both in the U.S. and in major markets around the world. We anticipate a strong finish to the year for 3DHD Vision System sales.”
