On the Move Systems, developer of cutting-edge technology designed to reduce costs and increase convenience in the tourism and transportation industry, in an effort to attract new niche travel customers in the $300 billion online travel market, says it has opened talks to add lodging at exclusive luxury retreats to its growing portfolio of travel and transportation services.
Advances in online booking software have contributed to healthy and growing market for owners of luxury villas and condos located in popular business and vacation destinations to rent their properties out to travelers when they're not in use.
OMVS' intent is to offer its online customers the opportunity to book lodging and white-glove service at these luxury properties at the same time that they purchase airfare, car services, pet shipping, and other luxury and niche transportation services. The strategy mirrors that of Montreal Web company, which achieves $100 million in annual revenues booking luxury retreats and recently picked up $5 million in venture capital.
"Our mission is to develop a one-stop shop online where travelers can book a comprehensive set of transportation, lodging and services, many of which can't be found anywhere else online," OMVS CEO Robert Wilson stated in the news release. "From private condo rentals to jet charters to limousine pickup, we want to build a strong network of partners offering above-and-beyond booking service that our competitors can't match."
Travel research company PhoCusWright last year predicted that a third of all travel sales around the globe would be booked online, easily outpacing the total travel market. By offering specialized services to niche travelers, OMVS plans to capture its shares of market opportunities that are ignored by the largest and most successful online portals.
